Phil Neville will miss Everton's final game of the season following minor knee surgery.

The Club captain's campaign has come to an end after an operation on Thursday.

"Phil Neville has had orthoscopic surgery on his knee," revealed David Moyes.

"After his injury earlier this season he had a slight touch on his cartilage so it has been repaired now. It means he won't play against Portsmouth though."

Neville missed 15 weeks of the season after damaging his left knee in a challenge with Fulham's Dickson Etuhu back in September.

The latest minor operation looks to have ended the 33-year-old's slim hopes of playing at this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.

Reports had suggested England manager Fabio Capello could look to the Everton captain to fill his right-back role.

Injury Curse

This curse is incredible. Now Neville is out now.

Lets look at the list of players we have who have spent a good while on the sidelines this season:

Defence

Tony Hibbert
Jospeh Yobo
John Heitinga
Phil Jagielka
Phillipe Senderos

Midfield

Mikel Arteta
Phil Neville
Dan Gosling
Leon Osman
Marouane Fellaini
Jack Rodwell

Forwards

James Vaughan
Victor Anichebe
Yakubu

This season can feck off out of it.

We've had unbelievable luck with injuries, that's for sure. Hopefully next season we don't get nearly as many and then we'll see what we can do with a settled side. If not maybe training methods etc. need to be looked at.
