A cycled commute is a bit perilous, I've been knocked off a few times in the 10 months I've been living in London. You probably cut your commute time in half though, get in great shape and save money. Oh and it beats getting the bus/tube to work any day of the week. Would be nice if people chilled out a bit though.

For me it's not so much that people break the speed limit as I think most of us have been guilty of that, but it's how much people break it by. Or people will squeeze past you at a pinch point or overtake right into your path from the other way. Was out the other day and some old fart gave me the horn as he overtook me doing 35mph down a hill. It was on a Sunday as well, where's in such a hurry to get to that he gets so worked up? Needless to say he got the finger from me

I saw THIS CLIP just before I went to bed last night. While I consider myself to be an extremely safe driver, I took that extra bit of care as I drove to & from work today.

WARNING - That clip will make you sit back & think. Don't watch it if there are kids about

[Edit - Mods: I've just clicked the link & the clip is quite extreme from the start, remove it if you feel it's right to do so]

i find that a great cure for having been tailgated is when at traffic lights put it into reverse, the sight of those white lights has them shitting themselves and you can always reverse into them and make out they ran up your arse, forget about skids going the wrong way, debris in the wrong place, i'm in a 4x4 so they would bounce back quite a way if they shunted me.
before any of you give it the ban 4x4's i will explain why i have one

firstly, because i am free to choose what i drive

secondly, it runs on lpg so i cant be accused of guzzling petrol

thirdly, safety factor... if i am driving my family around then i dont want any harm coming to them from hoons with tunes, a corsa would do well to make any kind of impression against a grand cherokee.

any corsa/punto/nova drivers who think they have a fast vehicle then i will happily wager your car against one of mine, loser gets their wheels 'cubed' and placed on their drive. i will happily have a drag over say 5 miles and i'll even let you have a rolling start compared to me starting as you pass me doin' say 60, thats a fair start i feel. just watch my afterburners dont scorch you as i pass and make sure your drive isnt blocked as the crane will need some space to return your new 'dice'. i choose to drive at safe speeds however i am able to unleash a fury of horsepower at the drop of a foot, if you would like i can spin my wheels at 50/60 to prove the point. you see my skyline can do all that but it doesnt mean i have to do it when moving 15 yds in traffic.

I think a major problem is today most dicks who tailgate and pay no attention to limits etc, havent got a licence, hardly had a lesson and have no insurance either.

The last 12 months in liverpool has seen a crackdown on this, and theyve caught thousands so ive been told.

But there is still thousands out there.

Not to mention the idiots who have already been banned or had their licence revoked and carry on regardless.

What gets me is if someone is found to have driven whilst banned, invariably the judge gives them a longer ban???
Missing the fact that it did no good the first time!

how come we didnt discuss this at the match? I also drive a Grand Cherokee on LPG. Is mine bigger than yours I wonder:D:D:D
4.7lt V8?

When you mentioned your holidays, I was going to say that I also holiday in the same sort of places (nudge nudge wink wink) then we moved on and the second half started so I forgot to mention it again.

Excelllent post.

The clip where the boy is crushed against the girl against the wall is an Irish road safety campaign ad which we are not allowed to use in the UK because it's too gruesome.

Perhaps a bit of gruesome might remind people about the dangers out there.
