Boxing

its never an even contest when you are naturally 2 weight divisions apart...

unless of course you are many pacquiaou

Totally agreed. It was to big of a step up to go straight into a fight against someone of Lomachenko’s skill set. If it was at Feather maybe he would of stood a chance, very much doubt it though. Rigondeux is a natural super bantamweight and should stick there.

Manny shouldn’t need the PED’s against McGregor so he should get a KO on his resume again.

kell brook had the same disadvantage when he went against GGG who was 2 weights heavier.

both, elite fighters (at the time) in their own right, but its hard enough to go up a single weight division and go straight in against the champ and win let alone 2 divisions.

Lomachenko is noticeably a lot bigger naturally too, so Rigo was always up against it.

I mentioned pacquiao because his fights against Dela hoya and Marquez stick in my mind, he was so much smaller than them, but beat them up big time! unreal fights

Pacquiao never exactly put a beating on Marquez once. He dropped him a couple of times but apart from the first fight, with the 3 knockdowns in first round. Every fight was close. The first fight was a draw if I remember correctly? For me, Marquez beat him in the second fight but was very close and could see why it went to Manny. Marquez 100% beat him in that third fight. They gave Manny the decision due to the hope he would fight Mayweather. If anything, Marquez destroyed Pacquiao in the fourth fight with a devastating right hand. All great fights and entertaining. The third fight was what convinced me Mayweather would beat Pacquiao. Are you thinking of maybe David Diaz or Margarito? Pacquiao was quality against David Diaz and think that’s where everyone couldn’t believe him going up in weights and destroying bigger men than him.

aye, always felt marquez had his number, and it's not like marquez was naturally bigger either

tbf it may of been Margarito.

the fight I remember he totally destroyed a much naturally bigger fighter.

regards the marquez fights, even to be trading with him considering the size difference was an achievement. the brutal KO basically ended many. Never really came back from that I feel

They were both same weight classes. Pretty sure the first fight was at either at super featherweight or lightweight and the fourth was at welterweight. They were always in same weight classes. Manny just couldn’t cope with the counter punch style of boxing. That was evidant against Mayweather. All four fights were exciting.

I think it was Margarito mate. He was all over him from start to finishing. He put a massive beating on him. Size difference was ridiculous.

Every fight for manny from the Diaz fight he fought bigger men. Think Hatton was only similar in height and reach. Pretty sure Manny had bigger reach than Hatton. Unreal what he done against De La Hoya, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley and few others. Bradley fight he got robbed. I remember the Margarito fight when he landed like a 8 punch combo in about 1second. Scary and so exciting.

The Margarito fight was him at his brilliant best, that and the Cotto fight, there was simply no way Mayweather was going to fight him then. Just wait until someone else knocks him out and 6 years further down the line, great boxer Mayweather, even better at picking his time to fight opponents.

It was great watching someone make a mess of Margarito's face after what he done to Cotto, even better then for Cotto to go and finish the job.
