Why do people automatically assume Joshua is running from Wilder and not the other way around?

I think it's blatantly obvious who doesn't fancy the fight and it's the guy who fights no marks (and occasionally gets wobbled) in front of one man and his dog.

If it's blatantly obvious that AJ wants the fight then Hearn would be going all out for it and not trying to push the Whyte Wilder fight. Hearn also spends a lot his time with all this nonsense moaning about Wilder's profile.

Wilder fought Ortiz who no one wanted to fight for relative buttons. After Ortiz failed the drugs test he could of avoided the fight but he wanted it.

Joshua gets paid an obscene about of money no matter who he fights. He's going to carry on mugging off the public as long as he can because if he fights Wilder being one dimensional and moving back in straight lines then he's going to get sparked out amd the cash cow has ended.

I think he would finish Wilder quite early tbh. AJ can box, Wilder leaves his chin exposed constantly. He would march forward and get caught repeatedly.

The strategy from Hearn is obvious - it's "you're coming here, because that's where the money is, and we're dictating the purse, because we have the belts and the marketing power."

For Joshua to go to the US and/or accept a 50/50 split would be ridiculously stupid.

I don't think Joshua is ducking anyone, certainly not Wilder. I'm not even that big a fan of Joshua really but it's ridiculous to suggest he's ducking it - he wants it but on his terms, which is smart and practically makes sense; the UK is the current home of world boxing, the Yanks have to accept that.

he agreed to fight povetkin in Moscow So why would he avoid fighting Joshua ? He would make triple the amount .

No fighter fears other fighters in their respected weight classes. It’s more the promoters behind it, especially when it comes to fighters like Joshua. On this occasion I don’t think it’s the case with this fight. I don’t think Joshua is ready for Wilder in his next fight, I think Hearn knows that. I think the demand for the fight is that high, that it needs to be made, especially since Joshua will have to vacate a belt soon. I think Hearn knows he needs another fight before Wilder, that’s what will stop this fight imo.

It would make sense from a business point of view if Joshua fights in America this year against an American. Wilder fights over here against a Brit , both raises fighters profiles with casual fans, making the fight more hyped, more mainstream and more money for the two fighters.

What makes me laugh is people who slate undercards of PPV. The reason the undercards are “weaker” is due to money been tighter, so the bigger profile fights can get made that fans demand. It’s always been that formula. Last week we got a great card of knockouts for free, if that was on PPV, people would moan that the whole card, was mismatches and waste of money. Either way, can’t win. Just enjoy the boxing and long may it continue to be on all the time. Weren’t that long ago the was hardly any cards on.

We all know Eddie Hearn is a tool but can’t deny what he’s brought to a sport that was practically dead in this country less than 10 years ago. He will want that fight made more than anything so he can line his own pockets up. He’s right in what he’s saying that, heavyweight boxing in the U.K. is where it’s at right now. Joshua should be getting atleast 65% of that purse against Wilder.

Didn’t it only get called off a week or few weeks before the fight was due to happen? Povetkin got popped for drugs really close to the fight if remember correctly. Sure he was due to get around $5mil for that.

Wilder doesn't want to lose his '0' AND his belt..

where would he go with no belt and a loss on his record??

the only thing he could do is beat the people AJ has just beaten in the hope of a rematch and a 80/20 purse.

at the moment he is relevant. he will be irreleveant when AJ does him
