I might be going soft in my old age but I wanted that stopping a few rounds earlier. Can't blame the ref imo, he called for the Doctor a couple of times and that should also serve as a sign to Wardleys corner that he thinks they should pull their fighter out.

ref had a choice when wardley was punch drunk coming out to face a new round. it was done there. feed a vulnerable man like that to a 21 year old iron mike and it's trouble with a capital T.

we were almost all horrified. it's a good job he can box, 'cos i don't know what else he'd do...

There were a few rounds he came out on not far off spaghetti legs. I think the only thing that kept it going so long was the fact Wardley still had a big punch in him, they didn't land but he could potentially have got the KO. Not worth the risk though imo, that could have ended very badly tonight.

Undoubtedly a great fight, but Wardley is a limited fighter , no real jab , only kept throwing the right bomb and getting completely unbalanced each time he missed, that granite chin kept him in the fight so long in my opinion but up against the very top fighters he will be found wanting. Hats off to them both though, warriors.
