15 games in and we are sat 9th in the league, behind Man City, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Blackburn.

A concern? Would 9th be deemed good enough for your standards at the end of the season?

i was concerned... but i think we are growing stronger. like any good race.. use the slip stream to get past.

I would definitely like to finish higher than 9th. We have improved over the course of the season. Remember after I think it was our 3rd or 4th game when we were all terrified about how bad our midfield was - complaining about long balls, no creativity or anything - I think we've made a massive improvement and theres still more than half the season to go.

Moyes said this week that he reckons it is as hard now to finish in the top 10 as it was a few years ago to get into the top 4, due to the heavy investors that quite a few teams now are attracting.
I can see us in the top 7 this season easily.

Just overtake them one by one. Keep on grinding out the results and it will come good in the end. Villa today. City next.

In answer to the question, no, I wouldn't be satisfied with 9th. But equally I don't think we are bottom of "our table" (I think Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham are below us, given what they have invested).

There is a division in the league as the 10th place side are 5 points behind us I think, whereas a win for us today could see us rise a few places, albeit on goal difference. It's perhaps worth noting that none of the teams directly above us have used many players yet. Man City have only used around 14 players all season I think. Injuries and suspensions will test many squads and I think we're better placed than most on that front.

we're 3 points away from the sh*te!!

even though they have 2 games in the hole, things might work out.

also we're only 10 points behind the league leaders arsenal, that's not a terrible position to be in at all!

I would be happy with top 7 or 8 with all the money spent by the likes of west ham, portsmouth and so on its going to be very difficult.
In a perfect world i would like us to have money to spend like the teams above cos i think moyes is a better manager than rednapp,o,neill, curbishley, ramos, fat sam, eriksson and sanchez and he would break into the top 4 on a regular basis but it ain,t going to happen so we will have to do it the other way slowly and bring on the youngsters.

Danny that post is sooooooooooooooooo this morning! ;) :D

Like I said, long way to go yet. Pompey have a load of Africans so their squad could suffer big time in the new year. Both Blackburn and Man City have decent first teams but don't have much in reserve. The same could even be said for Villa. Outside the top 4 I would take our reserve team to beat any other reserve team in the league and that will really help us towards the end of the season when fatigue, injuries and suspensions kick in.

7th, Europe and a Cup would be awesome. And hey even though we are now just starting to play well we're only 3 behind the [Poor language removed] even though the [Poor language removed] have a game in hand.
