From that video, Dejan Savicevic also. He was beautiful in that classic Milan side.

I just checked Red Star's line up in the 1991 CL Final against Marseille. Their midfield was Mihajlovic, Prosinecki, Savicevic, Jugovic.

Not bad at all.

Compare 90, 94, and 98 to any of the world cups that have followed. 2002 and 2010 were absolutely awful dirge, 2006 was ok, it’s picked up a bit recently in 14 and 18, but nothing to compare to those three.

94? Wasn't that the one in USA? The worse World Cup in history followed by South Africa.

South Africa was terrible football wise, good atmospheres though. I thought the footie was good in 94 but maybe it’s just nostalgia.

Nah the atmosphere ? Them vuvuzela things? Not having that. That World Cup gave the world tinnitus.

I thought it was awful mate. One or two good games I think. Maybe it was just a bit of a come down from Italia 90 and England weren't there

England not being there made it better! A proper focus on all the nations involved instead of daily updates on players we see every week already.

I don't think 94 was bad, The Romanians and the Bulgarians doing well was good fun. Some quality players on show too. The final was awful though.

86 will always be my favourite but I think a lot of people look favourably on the first one they can remember watching properly.

I don't enjoy modern world cups as much (though I did think the last one was really good) mainly because the game is too omnipresent now. It used to be a major event to see the likes of Zico and Socrates, Platini and Giresse, Maradona etc as you only got to see these almost mythical beings every 4 years. I get no joy over watching Ronaldo and Messi because I can see them every week.

Anyone ever heard of Vassilis Hatzipanigis? Quite possibly the greatest footballer you have probably never heard of.

Bit of a sad story really, his Russian background pretty much ruined his chances of playing on the biggest stages.

I dont know how he didnt throttle his team mates though, did loads of brilliant balls, crosses etc only for the dope up front to hoof everything wide.
