not that high anyway, Salkantay and some others in SA but you start from altitude anyway so it doesn't feel as bad

Salcantay is slightly higher, just over 20,000 ft. At those heights, starting at altitude is dangerous, you will surely need some acclimatisation?

we were in Cusco for a week leading upto it, we didn't summit by the way, we just trekked the pass,

You'll need a guide, should be acclimatised and probably au-fait with crampons and ice axe. If that's the case, you should be fine.
