Shap in the Lake District.
Park at the Shap Wells hotel (the hotel let you use their car park, toilets etc) its a small wood, lots of red squirrels and birds. 2 minutes walk from the car park.
Small place you can walk around in about 2 hours, little river and benches to sit for a brew, it's really nice.
Bring peanuts and the squirrels will come within a few feet of you.

Done some running around there over the years, it’s bleak, but has its own unique beauty, but the weather can turn in seconds though !

Went to the bird of prey place around there. I think the trainer had a "thing" for Mrs M as he kept on getting her up as a helper haha. Was speaking to him for a while after and turns out he was mates with Dave Latchford and knew Bob really well.

Some birds of Argentina and Chile the first one looked like a larger Kestrel the second one is from Brazil don'r have a clue what it was. The last one is a Lapwing type.

They start to get very noisy with the drumming right about now, marking out their territories for the nesting season in late March, same with the Tawny Owls calling too, been hearing them loads in the woods over the road from us.
