David Moyes refused to be downhearted by Arsenal's late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with the Gunners.
Robin van Persie struck in injury time to cancel out Tim Cahill's header.
It was a momentary yet costly lapse by the Blues, but the manager was keen to point to the positives.
"It doesn't feel too good," Moyes said. "But I have to look at how well the team played overall - I thought they were excellent.
"We deserved the three points but I have to give Arsenal credit, they kept going and got the goal in the 93rd minute.
"I am angry because I thought we had a good chance to keep the ball in the corner (at the end of the game). But I'm more disappointed because the players worked hard and earned it (a win)."
Cahill notched the 100th goal of his career in the clash before limping off injured, but Moyes preferred to point at the performance of his centre halves.
"Tim doesn't look bad," said the manager. "I think he's just taken a kick on his foot. He was fatigued anyway so it was right that we took him off.
"I thought (Joleon) Lescott and (Phil) Jagielka were out of this world. The standard they are setting is so high at this time.
"We are disappointed only to draw with Arsenal and that shows how far we have come."

Im always dissappointed after a game against Arsenal. Because we always deserve to win, even when we lost 4-1.

To me it just shows how far we have come. Even if we lose against Man U, which I wouldn't put my house on it, 2 points is 2 points more than I really expected against these lot.

Its all good experience, and as the RS are imploding, we are silently and with dignity, improving.

Compare that with:

"We have lost two points. We were much better in the first half. We had control of the game. We didn't kill the game," said Benitez, who brought both Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard off.

"The second half was a crazy game and when it is a crazy game you cannot control things"

"No I am disappointed with a number of things but no, the Wigan approach I will not talk about them," he added.

"It has happened in the last three games. They have something in common I don't like. I know why but I cannot say anything.

"The players were okay. They were working very hard in the first half but the second half changed because it was crazy.

"I was talking with my players about what to do on the pitch but there are things that you cannot control."
