HAHAHA, really? The Belgian FA chose him because he was cheap? Rightyho.
Well ye? Do you think Belgium FA are rolling in money and can attract top names like? He will be on peanuts if he fails and will get decent bonuses if he does well so very low risk for them and may have got him the job.

He is far from the worst we've had, People have very short memories. If we hadnt dropped the 2 goal lead vs Arsenal on teh first game of the second season it might have all been so different. It was fun for a while.

He made us all wake up to the fact we're Everton and shouldnt be happy just being there. He wanted to get us in teh champions league. THat mentality rubbed off, expectations rose.it all came tumbling down. None of this of course forgives some of the utter nonsense that he said towards the end or some of those "performances" that he was unable to fix.

You know, maybe in 5 years time we'll be looking back at his appointment (and then sacking) as the catalyst for bigger better everton that win things. Heres hoping

The catalyst is Mosh. Martinez has no credit whatsoever. If you take away his first freak season he should go down with name like Walter Smith but with fair bit of cash to utilise at the time.

I still don't think that's fair. It was a freak first season, but you can't say the second two seasons are his fault and then not credit him for the first season.

Walker, smith, Kendall and even motes second season almost took us down are seriously much worse than finishing 11th twice

I'd rather have him than Moyes. He tries to play football to feet. I think that first season he put in (or had the players put in) added to the couple of seasons Big Joe was here in the mid 90s are the three seasons I've enjoyed most since The late 80s. None of Moyes', or certainly the lousy Smith's, seasons were worth a damn.
Disagree as I believe the football played in moyes final season was the equal or maybe better than under Martinez

I recon he probably comes across amazingly in interviews as well which won't hurt.

You can because he just rode the coat tails of Moyes final season.

No he can claim no credit whatsoever and I wish him every misfortune going forward as he has undeservedly been the luckiest man on the planet the last 4 years.

Nobody is questioning whether or not he should have been let go. It's the outlandish shouts that he's the worst manager in our history that I take issue with. His worst season with us in terms of win percentage was actually his second season, not last season. Even then it was 35%. Last season it was 41%.

Last season was 37% just FYI

A simple clause in the contract was needed. "2 consecutive bottom half finishes and EFC can terminate the contact with £0 compensation due to Roberto Martinez".

When he signed it in 2014 he'd just finished 5th and thought he was the balls (so did everyone else).

They should have used the lawyer that inserted the Fellaini 31st July minimum buy out clause deadline. Genius that was.
