Blues who should've won something here

So how do people view Lee's time in charge?
Was he a much maligned manager who with a bit of luck could have achieved a place in history,or as the dour persona
that he was often portrayed as?

I met GL very briefly once and he was far from dour, a true thinker about the game and for me, a very under rated manager. The team that had Thomas, Latch, Dobbo etc played some terrific footie and despite all the rumours, he and Duncan MacKenzie did get along, and Dunc himself has said that. GL did a superb radio interview a couple of years ago and his understanding of the game and his thinking was really interesting and again, the total opposite of how he was perceived.

...it's not so much that these players should've won something, more a case that you would like to have seen them win something. I'm not a fan of Mick Lyons but can understand the affinity some fans have with him. For me, Tim Cahill is a much more deserving case, tremendous servant with real quality and commitment. You were rarely let down by a Tim Cahill performance.

Can understand that thought, but Mike Lyons would have played for nothing and in purely financial terms, compared to what Tim Cahill earned as a blue, Lyons did play for nothing. Both donned the royal blue with pride and passion, and in their own respective ways, set the tone for the teams they played in.

....I'm not against the lad, the fact that we threw him up front was a sad reflection of the times. Never liked that tactic.

third and fourth in consecutive seasons groucho, champions league these days, the team was bloody attractive to watch back then despite the media perception of "dour Gordon."

Mentality was different back then. I've said the same to my Dad who first started watching us in the 70s. As far as he was concerned - No silverware = Not good enough.

Strai! Just scoring for us nearly made his heart explode! Imagine if he'd have won a trophy with us :)
The other one would be Louis Saha, would have loved him to finish his career in the prem on a high!
