He’s excellent going forward, a liability defensively. La Liga is a terrible league to bring in a defensive player, especially one from Barca who neglect defending (they are largely attacking).
Overall though, him, Gomes and Richarilson (when his head is right) are the three players who would be labelled quality. Gylfi has flashes of quality, but he’s a tad one dimensional.
The rest, I think there’s no question the team Joe Royle inherited was far more talented. The team he took over was in a false position, this group are not. Holgate in for Keane, Tom Davies in midfield, Tosun or DCL upfront, this lot wouldn’t get promoted from the Championship.
There has been some serious money wasted.

Unlike Utd, Spurs, Arse and the RS of the original big 5 we went cheap buying journeyman during the Prem era perhaps Kanchelskis and Lukaku being the only top quality players recruited in the era. The galling thing is wasting big money on Siggi, Snides etc appears to have blown our load making our one and only shot at breaking out of mid table vanish.
The reason we have been uncompetitive and getting worse is down to reaping what you sow our recruitment has been dreadful for decades.

IMO, the best any decent manager could get out of this lot is 9th/10th.
They are really not that good. Leave out their price tags and just use your judgement on their performances.

yep. He simply and clearly didn’t care. Just stood and watched.
But the manager has equally had plenty of time to get him out the club too. He shpuld not be on the pitch.
