Not worth a penny
I have a question and I hope you can help me out. I'm coming over with Eastern for the Hammers game and I'll be staying until the Tuesday after. Want to go and watch a lower league match on Monday and so far I identified the Blacpool vs Doncaster and the Crewe vs Cheltenham games as possible venues.

Never been to Blackpool before and I visited Crewe back in 1995, when their Cresty Road Stadfium was about to be redeveloped.
One of their directors at that time was half Belgian (his mother fled to England during WW2). He showed us all their plans and offered us into the players lounge. Had one of the best days in England thus far. Sadly, I lost contact with him a while after.

So on one hand, I desperately want to return to Crewe, to see the redeveloped stadium, but I'd also like to visit a ground, I've never been to before. Problem with Blackpool is that I don't think their stadium is that special (as seen on the Football League show). How's the town of Blackpool compared to that? Also, are there any other clubs in the programm beneath that are situated close to Liverpool.

Brentford v Exeter, 15:00
Bristol Rovers v MK Dons, 15:00
Charlton v Carlisle, 15:00
Colchester v Millwall, 15:00
Gillingham v Southend, 15:00
Hartlepool v Brighton, 15:00
Norwich v Stockport, 15:00
Southampton v Leyton Orient, 15:00
Swindon v Tranmere, 15:00
Walsall v Wycombe, 15:00
Yeovil v Leeds United, 12:30

Accrington Stanley v Grimsby, 15:00
Aldershot v Rotherham, 15:00
Barnet v Chesterfield, 15:00
Bradford v Macclesfield, 15:00
Bury v Burton Albion, 15:00
Crewe v Cheltenham, 15:00
Darlington v Hereford, 15:00
Lincoln City v Morecambe, 15:00
Northampton v Torquay, 15:00
Port Vale v Dag & Red, 15:00
Rochdale v Bournemouth, 15:00
Shrewsbury v Notts County, 15:00

Hope you can give me some advice and help me make my decision a bit easier.(y)

Blackpool for the night out afterwards defo.

Ive never heard of anyone from Liverpool going for a lads night out in Crewe

Blackpool night-life is fantastic. Though in the winter the town is a bit of a morgue. You are right about the stadium there, its by far the worst i have ever visited in England.

I've got a soft spot for Shrewsbury DT, family in the area, been quite a few times. Nice new ground, and should be a decent game, you may even meet Sven!

It's about an hour on the train from Liverpool. Night life is nothing like Blackpool though - which for me is a good thing.

Bury's not far - home town of our captain! Wrexham v Gateshead is on that day. Blue square prem game, lovely ground esp for none league. West kirby train from lime street/central/moorfields/james street to bidston then the Wrexham train from bidston to Wrexham general - grounds right next to the train station, same side of the road but on your right!

Don't know if you will be around on the Friday DT, but the following fixture may interest you

Marine FC v FC United of Manchester

FC UoM were, I think, formed by disgruntled MUFC fans.

Easy to get to as well.

Posted via Mobile DeviceArriving on the Saturday, so Marine vs FC UoM isn't an option I'm afraid. shrewsbury sounds interesting, as does Wrexham. Any idea as how long the journey will take to get from Liverpool to Wrexham?

Yeah, it'll take about an hour on the train but you can't go wrong when you get off the train, its literally next door!

if you had been here on the 2nd (good friday) then there would've only been 1 place to go dt.......

Fri 2 Apr St. Helens v Wigan Warriors

in fact me and sharpy would've probably come with you.

Crewe is my hometown so I would recommend you lend them your support, they don't half need it right now! However Blackpool wins hands down if your after a night out. There's not much in Crewe to be honest.

Blackpool all day long mate....

Their groung is quiet new also and not that bad. Plus there playing some really good stuff at the moment.

Their manager is a legend.
