Bily unhappy

I do like Bily. Technically he is one of the most gifted players at the club. Infact, it's hard to think of many players in the league who can strike a ball as well as him. There are also his deliveries, which we haven't seen enough of. His work rate is criticised, but I've got no complaints about his effort or attitude. Some people say his speed of thought is too slow, but he's shown lightening quick instincts to seize on chances for his goals. I think the problem is that he's a final third player. He comes alive around the box and, away from home especially, we don't get in range of the opposition's penalty area for him to be effective. I really hope it does work out for him and that either he adapts to us or that we adapt to him.

All sports have players like Bily. Absolutely and freakishly talented against something less than top flight competition. But lost when playing at the highest level. For some players, even the slightest uptick in the speed/strength/quickness/agressiveness of the opponent causes their game to just disappear. It happens to guys in all sports all over the world and there is really no explanation for it. And it happens at all levels, and at all ages. Conversely, some guys never look dominant, just very good. Than they move up a level, and still can do the same things and still are very good, and then they move up a level ... These guys are never dominant, but you turn your head, and they are world class at their particular sport.

He does get a lot of abuse I totally agree and I often defend him but the stick is justified today. It is a shame that his performances are highlighted more than anyone else but the same happened to Fellaini and he turned fans round, I would love to see Bily do the same.

Sometimes players just don't bed in with their clubs. That's the reason we got Arteta. That's the reason we got Pienaar...

He has genuine quality. He can strike a ball better than any other we have... but for some reason, it hasn't worked out for him here.

He's been managed poorly, played routinely out of possession and his confidence has been shot beyond repair.

That, and Evertonians will never take to a player with his persona.

Recoup whatever we can get for the lad - we're not set up to have a player of his stature here.

I think Bily gives us something different. Not only can he score spectacular goals, but I think he'd make quite a good goal poacher. He seems to have the knack of knowing where the ball is going to end up. I've said before that his goals return for us is almost identical to Krancjar's for Spurs. I think he could become an expert dead ball taker too, if we developed him in that way.

One thing that struck me watching an interview with him on Everton TV was how good his English is. Tevez has been here over twice as long and can't string a sentence together. It's testament to the effort that he's put into adjusting to life in England. He could moan about not playing regularly enough or court the attention of other clubs, but he knuckles down and gets on with it. In a recent interview he hit the nail on the head when he said that we need to play with more "intelligence". Jags pumping long balls up to Osman isn't going to get us anywhere. If we can feed the ball to players like Bily and Beckford rather than expecting them to pick up second balls then I'm sure we'll see more end product from them.

Where Bily has done well is in the central third of the pitch - his goals have come from that area (Pretty hard to score from elsewhere, granted) but, it may be concluded that he is a goal threat in that area. I feel that if his position were behind the striker(s) rather than out on the left or right we would see him more comfortable, dangerous and confident.

Unfortunately he's not been able to adapt to the position he's been playing in - although it could be argued he's had limited time there. With the remaining games relatively less important I would really like to see the manager play Bily in this position. Seems sensible to see if it could work before deciding he's not worth holding onto.

I think if Bily fulfils his potential he would be our best option in that position - better than Osman and better than Cahill.

Mate do you actually think he's a luxury player with good technical quality that you need to accommodate to get the best out of? He's not that at all, watch him pass a ball, there is no craft about it whatsoever.

I think he has the tools to ping out great passes. He just hasn't got the confidence or the time to do it in the English game.

I agree with whoever said above that he'd suit Italian football a treat.

Guus Hiddink reckons he's the bees knees.

And he's got more technical ability in his right foot than any other Everton player with the exception of Arteta. We're just not suited to him at all.

The lads got ability. Even his most staunch critics will admit that. For whatever reason, we're not able to use that ability to it's potential.

Agree with all of what you just said.

Guys, I'm sorry, but Bily's afternoon was summed up when Fabio stripped him of the ball in the first half.

Bily's standing there, gets the ball, dallies on the ball too long in the final third, and gets overrun and stripped by Fabio - who is 2/3 his size and height. Dripping wet. On a good day. Downright embarrassing.

Off went Man U for a brilliant counter attack while Bily was still picking himself off of the pitch.

Did this happen to other players today? Sure - Valencia literally shoved Baines over and Cahill couldn't hold onto the ball worth beans either. But I don't EXPECT Baines/Cahill to be shoved over whereas every time Bily has the ball I literally cringe waiting for him to be stripped off of it if he has any time whatsoever.

If we don't offload him to a Russian club in the summer we are stupid. And honestly at this point, he should be reading the writing on the wall and get himself off to another club. He is not making it here (or in the prem). He might have the best attitude ever, but he is not fast enough in decision-making or passing, and he has had ample games this season to demonstrate he is. I don't care if it's not his natural position - if we're not going to use him there, SELL.

First of all, anyone judging Bily from today is being a bit silly. No one outside of our defence played anything better than crap.

Secondly... argh. I hate to say it, but he's just not going to make it. I'm still convinced if given a run in attacking mid for a good few games, he'd improve no end. Alas, Moyes seems to have bought a player he didn't need. We were overstocked in the center, so he buys another central player... to play out wide? He doesn't get them wrong often, but boy, did he mess that one up.

The worst thing is though, that he's almost definitely going to be sold without every playing in his best position for us. What a shame.

he will score a cracker next week and everyone will be back on the bily bandwagon, hes AM play him there when cahill is injured or rested then judge him because thats his real position

I won't be. Look, we need money, and he is not going to played in his natural position. So, sell.
