Bily unhappy

I don't expect him to be a jack of all trades - but I do expect him to play better football than he has even at LM. That was my comparison to Coleman - who took the new position and demonstrated some new skills. I don't expect Seamus to suddenly become a CAM. Bily didn't adapt at all - that's not expecting him to be a jack of all trades.

To me there's a reason he's played second fiddle. His passing skills, his ball skills, his slow decision-making. He instills no confidence in me on *this*team. So I don't want him to play there. We have too many other players in the middle, he is extraneous and to me not good enough for the prem.

Fair enough. And I concur -- he should have done better at LM. I would still like to see him at AM before we sell him though. Last chance saloon, etc etc.

But, I think we can all agree Bily was better last season than this? And what's changed? Well, he's not got as much game time... so I'd say confidence. The fans get on his back, and Moyes clearly doesn't put much faith in him. It would be nice to see him get a run of games and get some confidence. If you look at vids of him for Moscow, he trys to beat his man; he actually runs at them. Sure, the leagues are completely different, but he's clearly lost that self-belief. We're not seeing Bily at his full capacity, that's all I'm saying. I worry he'll go somewhere else and reach his potential, and we'll look on in frustration.

Fair enough right back at you. I never saw him last season, so I can't judge... Just basing my opinion in this past season, so he may well have a resurgence with another manager. Just think we can't wait on that unfortunately.

Guys, I'm sorry, but Bily's afternoon was summed up when Fabio stripped him of the ball in the first half.

Bily's standing there, gets the ball, dallies on the ball too long in the final third, and gets overrun and stripped by Fabio - who is 2/3 his size and height. Dripping wet. On a good day. Downright embarrassing.

Off went Man U for a brilliant counter attack while Bily was still picking himself off of the pitch.

Did this happen to other players today? Sure - Valencia literally shoved Baines over and Cahill couldn't hold onto the ball worth beans either. But I don't EXPECT Baines/Cahill to be shoved over whereas every time Bily has the ball I literally cringe waiting for him to be stripped off of it if he has any time whatsoever.

If we don't offload him to a Russian club in the summer we are stupid. And honestly at this point, he should be reading the writing on the wall and get himself off to another club. He is not making it here (or in the prem). He might have the best attitude ever, but he is not fast enough in decision-making or passing, and he has had ample games this season to demonstrate he is. I don't care if it's not his natural position - if we're not going to use him there, SELL.

so the difference is that when it happened to bily you knew it was coming, whereas its not typical with cahill/baines? in other words, the incident itself meant nothing, just his reputation.

how many years has osman lived with the same criticism, he must love the fact that he's no longer the generic everton scapegoat. what surprises me the most is the kneejerk reaction to a poor performance from bily at old trafford, in a game where literally noone but jagielka and howard had all-around good games (distin came close except for the mistake for the goal). that shouldn't effect your evaluation of the player, and if you've been anti-bily this whole time, the game at old trafford shouldn't be used as evidence for your cause.

honestly, while his best position is central midfield, i think he can learn to play on the wing. he's a truly two-footed player and on the left side we want someone who can cut inside anyways, giving baines space down the channel. once those two get some chemistry worked out his play will improve greatly

I just don't get the blind support of this guy. Look, I'm new here - I've only been here for this season. Therefore, I have NO anti-bily cause. I have NO crusade. I have NOT been "anti-bily this whole time." In fact, I have given him praise for his love of Everton, and his loyalty. I have also posted wishing him well and asking him to play better. I did not write him off at the beginning of the season.

It is NOT a kneejerk reaction. I have watched every single Everton game this season. I have watched ALL of Bily's minutes on the field this season. Tim Cahill had a fantastic start to the season. Arteta has missed the vast majority of the season. However, both have had multiple good games for Everton and both are widely supported. Osman has strung together a very lovely cascade of games.

In the entirety of Bily's time with us this season, other than a couple of wonderstrikes I have not seen evidence of a player that can make it with our A team. Last year he was benched by a player on loan. Moyes does not appear to have confidence in him. The other players appear to not have confidence in him.

How is this a kneejerk reaction??????? I have compiled the evidence. I have also thought about the fact that we need money. We are still a business. If there is a player that does not belong, it betters the club AND THE PLAYER to find a new home.

I don't want him to rot somewhere - he clearly has talent. It's just not with us.

It just bothers me when people say I have a crusade for having an opinion. This is my opinion, that is all. (Nothing against you toffeestillidie).

The most frustrating player I've known. Boy has talent but I think he lacks the mental strength to be successful here. He seems to sometimes delay making a decision on where to pass then he loses the ball and then makes the most woefully feeble attempt to regain possession. A minute later he will spank on in from 25 yards.

I want him to do well cos I like him but I'm pretty much at the end of waiting for him to finally kick it up a gear.

He is frustratingly weak on the ball. At Old Trafford I recalled him getting outmuscled by Fabio Da Silva, who isn't exactly the strongest player. His reaction was to dive on top of the ball and hope for the best.

Not a big deal, but aside from all the points made already, seeing that - his unwillingness to battle for the ball and just give up and go to ground instead - annoyed me. Granted it's the EPL and all, but still, he's been here for long enough to know that you have to know how to push back when things get physical.

He has been here all season bar the last 4 games?

AMEN to that.

Hasn't he been out for longer than that, and at the beginning of the season? I could be misremembering. And I'm too lazy to google it. :) Regardless, he's still got the better track record (though he too needs to bring something back or it'll be dire next year).

There's a question: if Arteta STILL hasn't regained form in these last few games, what on earth do we do?

Twice. I actually laughed. Sorry Bily. :(

Propper good players don't need a "settling in" period, and if they do they only need months, not bleedin year(s). Not a good player at all. Look back in time. Bily will be found in the same file as Bob the Pole and Idan Tal.

We finish below Bolton. We are done for against Chelsea and City, no way we can break them down with the complete lack of composure in our midfield

And our summer buy business gets that much more difficult. These last few games, though not as important for the table, are so important to measure form. We need a final opinion on who looks good...and who doesn't.
