Firstly, get well soon Bill. Cancer is something that's affected family and friends of mine and some are not here as a result.

Secondly, surely there's a responsibility on the club/owner here. If he's still working until the point of his operation and is expected to now have a long recovery period, who's stepping in and giving him the time he needs to recover?

For the record, I think he run his time long ago based on nothing but the performance of the club commercially and performance on the pitch but there seems to be a vacuum in proper leadership to protect all parties.

Sorry that we're not all sending good wishes to a man who tried desperately to have us all painted as mindless thugs last season.

I don't wish ill upon him, but if it finds its' way to him anyway then I'd be lying if I said I had sympathy.
Yea, this.
I genuinely don't care if he's sick. I don't know him and what I do know of him I don't like
Like you, it doesn't mean I wish him ill, but a 77 year old man being sick isn't going to shock me into levels of sympathy that make me forget what he's done and is still doing to an institution that carries a lot more importance to many.

All he's done is highlight another reason he should not be in the job imo

Openly and vocally prioritising football over the mortality of a person is quite odd.

Some very weird posts in this thread.
Everybody dies. Making a list of priorities isn't going to change that, but not every football club is run poorly to the benefit of one

Anyway he's not dead, though any positive influence he might have had is long dead

Everton really tugging at the fans' heartstrings, obviously at the request of the Chairman In Hiding.

Pretty disgusting really to use cancer to garner sympathy. I bet a fair few Everton fans have died from cancer this year, painted as aggressive thugs by this very man who has gone far out of his way to destroy the club.

If he were to step down immediately myself and I think virtually everybody else would be going out of my way to congratulate him on very belatedly relinquishing his role and wishing him for a speedy recovery.

"right up until the day of the procedure...." Is he expecting a flashmob to start singing greatest love of all in tribute?

As always, he's trying to make himself into a superhero, a martyr to the cause that he created.

Just keep it simple; he's sick, he'll recover, he's left the club to focus on that.

….from what I read the prognosis on recovery from liver cancer isn’t great.
