Could you tag your strongest dissenters so we can try make sense of all this.
Two are @Jamo Martinez and @Billy Dean - two good lads who got sucked into the "England fans have changed" spin.

As said, I feel sorry for them and others here who genuinly took a pride in the team and wanted to believe the payers and manager represented somethng better than the usual muck that the national team throws up as support.

Did I ever say England fans have changed? My stance was more that it’s a minority but I might have underestimated them

Regardless, I think it’s wrong to associate the team with the moron fans.

Christian Eriksen. Could have died on the pitch but thanks to the actions of his teammates and medical staff he was awake and stabilized an hour later.

Good shout.

Otherwise, I'd say Italy, Mancini, Donnarumma, Pickford and Shaw in some order. All but Donnarumma had been maligned at one point or another, and Donnarumma needed to prove on a big stage that the price tag will not just be a winner's curse. He earned whatever it ends up being.

Southgate and the England fans had a poor final, as did many of the England players. Most everyone else goes home with unanswered questions.

I’d go with @davek. He’s withstood a month’s barrage of abuse and handled it with good grace. He spoke truth to power and maybe people should tag in some who owe him a huge apology.
Whilst I can see some merit on your broader point, I think describing anyone who posts hundreds of messages on a football forum, all hours of the day, as a 'winner' is probably stretching the definition.

It’s the game though isn’t it bra. His sacrifice is worth it. He makes the edgy and angry confront themselves using him as a medium.
