Bielsa

Agree on going for someone not working is a good idea, Arteta isnt working as a manager so he has to be first choice
Seeing as we're somewhat of a project with very low expectations, I see Arteta as being worth a punt. He's worked under the best for over two years, also worked under the great Arsene Wenger, and himself was a fantastic footballer who knows Everton inside out. I'd be much more sympathetic towards him if the going got tough than to this con artist Silva.

Depends what you want him for. As a Leeds fan I have to say it’s like Leeds & bielsa are kindered spirits. As fans we like not being everyone’s favourite team so we love the spying controversy which has really been blown out of proportion by the media but we love him for it.

As for flavour of the month he walked on lazio because promises that had been made weren’t kept. As I’ve said in previous posts he’s a principled bloke.

Marseille fans love him he got them playing the best stuff they’d seen in years they fell off a bit & came 4th, but isn’t that what Everton to achieve in the long run?

Lille I would agree didn’t go as he planned

Bilbao he reached a Europa league & copa del Rey finals

It’s just paper talk so I don’t see it happening promoted he’ll have a crack at it with us. But given a preseason with you he’d have playing as close to the way city play as anyone.

Thanks for the input mate.

In lots of ways I think he would work well with the squad. He looks the type of manager, given the amount of experience he has who's adept at getting players to play for him.

The one curveball would undoubtedly be how far he would be willing to work for a DOF such as Brands, who is going to prioritise younger signings as part of recruitment and be quite dominant in terms of the off-field stuff.

The other point and it's a fair one, is whether he would leave. I personally think he would, the Everton squad while not light years ahead of Leeds is substantially ahead. He doesn't seem to stick around too long at any given place.

Since he came in how have you been in in the transfers? have you addresses it well, fixed spots that needed a player or is he getting better play out of players that Monk...etc got nothing from?

Yeah hiring the fella from Preston was a disaster wasn’t it.

Sir Alex came from Aberdeen ffs.

Read the subsequent posts...

I will do a synopsis for you, Moyes would have been fired by year two in the current climate and I doubt Ferguson would have made it to 1990 as there were rumours of him going leading up to that, so just think what it would be like now. You hit the ground running or you go home.

And SAF did actually win things with Aberdeen so we shouldn't immediately call them a small club, which is what they have become.

Transfer wise he likes a small squad he’s basically got the the same team as last year the 2 big signings we’ve made were bamford & Douglas from wolves. Bamford has basically been injured the entire season so it’s been as we were. We’ve had 45 injuries this season to key players all season & he’s just said no problem & picked the kids. Think we’ve had 8 or 9 players make their debut under the age of 21. Regarding transfers he hasn’t been too fused he won’t make signings just for the sake of it only likes a small squad 22ish & that is meant to include some of the youth team.

This is why he’ll never leave mid season he gets it out of them because they drilled the over & over in pre season to do exactly what he wants the youth team is exactly the same so they are brought in knowing exactly what their job is. He doesn’t change if plan a doesn’t work he wants them to do plan a better.

He has a bed & kitchen installed at the training ground & stays over a fair bit. People saying we’re burning out we haven’t had a fully fit squad since the start of August & will hopefully have that by the end of February which will only make us stronger for the run as half the team has missed at least 10 games this season. In Only one game this season we’ve had less possession than the opposition.

Aberdeen were champions and broke the monopoly of Celtic & Rangers.
Moyes didnt win anything
Am I delirious or did they not beat Real Madrid in a ECWC final?

That was a super Aberdeen side and it was really obvious there was something about Ferguson before he joined United.

Ferguson´s best achievement was to be able to reinvent himself and not be too arrogant and accept input from other coaches --
Something neither Martinez or Silva were capable of doing---and he managed to stay relevant for several generations of millennial millionaires, even in his late 60´s . Some achievement that.

Back on message, there is as much chance that Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson will be our new management dreamteam as us having Bielsa next season.

Brands will want stability and a ploan.

Stability aint part of the Bielsa package.

If this was a normal bloke I would agree but he’s not. Whether the squad is better or not it’s not about that for him. If he’s happy he’ll stay no matter what. He’s a principled bloke & romantic he’s bought into Leeds. He saw what It would mean to put Leeds back where we belong. He won’t be here for the long haul but will have ingrained the culture to keep us & push back to where if we are receiving the tv money like you are will be able to compete like yourselves.
