2024/25 Beto

Fair enough. Sounded quite Dychey with the "what else does he do for the team" bit.

Honestly, if Beto did zero for the team for a full season, but bagged us 20 goals then he'd have done exactly what he's there to do. No point having a 9 who works really hard, holds the ball up, defends from the front but dosent score goals... we've had one of them the last 4 seasons! He's there to score goals as his number one job.
Ye can understand that mate, Betos hold up play has improved as well I think since Moyes came in.

However, would disagree on a striker doing their job just by scoring goals. We could lose every week due to a system breakdown and Beto get 20 goals. Think the PL demands more than just a goal scorer these days

How many off them 9 have come off the bench?

None mate, thats what I was showing. When he starts, his goals.

Here's his stats for his goals PL only

1st goal v Newcastle (sub for 5 minutes)
2nd goal v West Ham (started)
3rd goal v Bournemouth (sub for 11 minutes)
4th goal v Fulham (sub for 9 minutes)
5th goal v Leicester ( started )
6th goal v Leicester ( started )
7th goal v rs ( started )
8th goal v Palace ( started )
9th goal v Man Utd ( started )
10th goal v Ipswich ( started )
11th goal v Fulham ( started )

So 8 goals from 22 starts. 3 goals from sub appearances.

With those kind of stats you'd be looking at 12-13 PL goals a season.

People want to sell him so that when we re-sign Dom and he lays off a ball to Doucouré next year they can turn around to us and say "See!!! Isn't that better than a goal?!?" and they can feel comfortable believing that they truly know that footy isn't about scoring goals and winning matches but it's actually about holding on to possession in the final third, scoring no goals, and fighting relegation every year.

Doucoure won’t be here, I’m sure he’s another awful technical player that you love, because he tries

Looks like we need to keep him. He is the least of our concerns if you ask me.

you’re blinkered how many assists does he have, what else does he do for the team and don’t say he doesn’t need to if he’s scoring, that’s fine if he’s getting 30 goals
But he’s not. You need to be a lot better all round striker if you want to be successful as a team
If he had 30 goals since he began getting starts in January that'd be something wouldn't it.
You keep banging on about the all-round better striker we need yet you can't name him or where the money will come from. 20 goal a full season striker with Prem experience will cost what,40-45 million and he's going to come to a team with no European football 🙄

Well that’s up To the club to get them, not sure if you’ve noticed, but we have new owners and are going into a new ground, new and better sponsorship deals, 50mil saved in interest payments, we will have money to spend. The new ground, new owners and the premier league is a huge pull, players leave champions league teams in weaker leagues across Europe to be mid table in

Odd that Moyse doesn't know how much his budget is yet... unless he's fibbing. Then think about the other positions that need attention.

Yes what do want him to say we have 100mil like the idiot at Leeds and Branthwaite is yours for 60mil ffs mate get a grip.

Two very extreme expectations. Obviously something in the middle is the most preferred.

Is there anyone better in our team 1-1 with the keeper (Keane aside, but he'll be off anyway)?

Keep him. He's growing in confidence and he's improving. He's not a cry-arse either. There's plenty of dross to go before we even look at shifting Beto.

I posted at the time, Pickford trains with him every day, what possessed him to pass it to him in the centre circle while he was marked knowing he's poor with his back to goal? As you say the midfield had dropped into position for a pass as had the two central defenders. So a pass there was the far more sensible option.
TBF, yeah, you could argue that he should know Beto couldn't trap a bag of cement and maybe that sort of pass is ill-advised

Obviously I don't expect him to put a number on it,that would be ridiculous. But he could say "yes I've been told a figure" ...but he hasn't been told. As I said unless he's telling porkies.
Now about that 20 a season striker that you can see signing for us🤔

…..really? Very hit and miss.

I think he’s missed plenty of one-on-ones (was it Brentford away he missed two or three?), certainly something he’d really improve his ratio if he was better at.
