I thought he had a better game than Arteta, Fellaini, Osman and Cahill personally.

And Distin.

He was just a passenger.

Random names thrown forward there but seeing as so;

Arteta scored, and played a part in the first.
Fellaini played a part in the last two goals. Controlling and laying it out brilliantly to Baines for the cross for the second, and being a handful in the area for the cross that lead to the equaliser.
Osman, great assist for the first.
Cahill scored and assisted the third (and released Arteta for our opener).

Heitinga just hasn't got going yet. There was one time he got skinned and just gave up - it'll come, but fans saying he's on his game right now will be in for a treat when he gets going.

You can have a good game other than by playing a part in a goal though.

As i said in the match thread, his attempt at covering over to the left when he pansied out of a challenge letting a man go past him which led to a corner for them which lead to our first was quite frankly awful.

Wasn't it Dutch who didn't rate him much before he came here? Maybe he was right, he's not quite as good as we'd all hope.

Or maybe he is just not playing as well as he can for whatever reason.

If his pirouette had come off again then we'd be seeing it as avatars.

I executed one perfectly last weekend when pinching the ball off the toe of my 4 y.o. I wasn't gonna say anything until someone shouted "he thinks he's Fellaini."

A passenger how? He was getting on the ball, looking for it, and only gave it away once or twice all game. He's the holding midfielder so naturally, he's not going to get forward as much as our other midfielders. When players have 'shockers' they usually make lots of mistakes or give the ball away all the time, Heitinga did neither. He also made three of four passes that only Scholes could compete with during the game.

I think he made one or two mistakes, getting done by Fletcher being one of them, but having seen the game twice, there's no way he had a shocker or was poor. Fellaini made a mistake against Villa, was his performance shocking?

Why do people keep bringing in random other players?

Opinions, opinions. I just thought he had a poor game and was rightfully replaced.

He's off his usual pace. If you watch Fletchers goal, Distin could make a good case that Heitinga lost his man. Heitinga tracked him for a moment, then let him go.

But anyway - he just gave a Tobias Linderoth (theres a random player to keep up the trend x) performance for me - a passenger.

For me, that instance you gave epitomised his start. Lax.

It'll come though, he's a very good player.

The answer for me lies somewhere in the middle in his midfeild role, in comparrison to Mofro and Arteta hes a novice and its an unfair comparrison in a midfeild role. That said i think he has the tools to be a really great holding midfeilder, he needs to be more discplined, systmatic in choice, tacticly aware and realise sometimes the best choice isnt always to be on the ball.

I can see where both are coming from to be honest, hes far more dynamic then say Neville that said hes not as expierenced in terms of tactical awareness, discpline or decison making.

Because Fellaini's performance against Villa, for me, had similarities with Heitinga's against Manchester Utd. Kept the ball, looked for it, made the odd mistake here and there but in the main, both players did there defensive duties. The only major difference was Heitinga made more adventurous, forward thinking passes.

I've seen shocking performances, and that wasn't one.

I love Fellaini, and stuck with him all the way through his first year.

I lost patience with him at about the Villa game last year, and decided that he wasn't good enough.

Bang on cue, he turns into the best DM in world football.

That Hibbert's a bit [Poor language removed], isn't he?
