Lamb is way up there for me.
You should definitely check out some of the stuff I’ve listed if you’re into Lamb.
Bonobo, Four Tet, Amon Tobin etc.

Indeed. You listed pretty much all the stuff I like! All good stuff. I was just adding to the list you assembled. You should definitely check out some of the stuff I’ve listed if you’re into Lamb. Bonobo, Four Tet etc.... check their 90s/early 2000s stuff for example.
Depends what you mean they started: electronic pop songs busting the mainstream? There was a lot of eletronic musik doing the rounds at the time of, or even before, Kraftwerk. Tangerine Dream were doing the long dreamy pieces, and that famous Popcorn number was late-60's.
aye, I discounted synthpop/trip-hop/New Romantic/EDM-pop or anything with more focus on traditional songwriting with regular vocals as that's its own thread.
So no Massive Attack or Portishead or Tricky even tho' they're brilliant.
Tangerine Dream and Hawkwind, was just a load of hippies off their boxes on acid lol
I wish I could get hold of some these days...frakkin' society and its stupid hangups. Seriously one of life's most intensely-pleasurable things is playing synth drones awash with reverb & flanger while peaking on a tab.
Magic Mushies are a good substitute![]()
perfect blend of electronic and real instruments with production that is out of this world good... ultimate headphone music. The amount of detail in the track is crazy.
You might like James Holden's new album:
I like one track from it (The neverending), the rest is a bit too hippy and 'far out' for me. I admire him as a producer though... my favourite thing he did was the the remix of Andre Kramls 'Safari'... but he's kinda ditched that sound and gone down the super arty hippy route.
worth a watch, probably the most critically acclaimed electronic artist/album of past decade or so
