2019/20 Bernard

So why do you supposed he's never really played as a 10 since he came over from Brazil 5 years or so ago?
I wonder why none of his many previous managers ever played him in CAM
Perhaps playing him there wouldn't have improved his previous sides. Doesn't mean it couldn't improve ours though. He definitely could play there, it's certainly not a crazy shout, he has the skillset of a 10/CAM whatever you want to call them. I'm not sure I'd do it often at the moment because I think he'd need to get into the box more than he does in our current set up, but it's something I wouldn't mind seeing tried out.

Leighton Baines COULD play defensive mid. Andre Gomes COULD play left wing. Yerry Mina COULD play CF. I don't understand why anyone thinks Bernard is any more capable of switching positions than anyone else.

Bernard is a left sided player. He hasn't played in the middle. We have Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Tom Davies, all who DO play that role. I also don't understand why anyone would WANT Bernard to play in the middle when we don't lack players and quality for the position.

I guess I just don't understand the point.

You rarely do to be fair.

As I've already said, he has the skillset to play there. Mina doesn't have the skillset to play up front, Gomes doesn't have the skillset to play wide left, so your examples are atrocious. Fabian Delph is a midfielder, always has been, but he has the skillset to play full back. Lucas Digne is a full back, but he has the skillset to play as a winger. Richarlison, Walcott, Kean, all can play centrally or wide, because...they have the skillset.

It's a very simple point really, maybe if I could put it in a pie chart or give it a stupid name you'd take it seriously, but I know you don't really understand the concept of judging football with the eyes.

Agree with almost everything.

Gomesh could play anywhere.

I mean it's not hard to see why people would like to see Bernard play off the striker, He's quick skillful can link up nicely with players with flicks and decent movement, Good dribbler (mostly), He'd off something very different to Gylfi.

Yeah, I never watch the games, it's such a good point. Stats. Right.

So sure, he has the skillset I guess. Mina is tall, great in the air, has great feet. He can play CF in the PL!

But the second point you missed, which is the most important one. Why WOULD we play him in the middle when we have 3 players already that play the position?

We already have 3 guys for that position. Why not Richarlison? Cenk Tosun played as a second striker, why not him?

Are we trying to stockpile 10s? Should we bring Steve Walsh back?

I didn't miss the point. I'd already answered it in my original post, saying that personally I wouldn't play him there, I just thought you'd have to be incredibly dense not to understand why people thought he might be able to.
