Again, he was alright. He's not similar to Bernard though because he actually did stuff. Pienaar at 32 put up the same sort of numbers as Bernard did this season, in a third fewer games too. At his peak, Peanut used to create and score (again, maybe not as much as he should but that's where the similarities begin and end).

Over 4 seasons, he averaged a goal or an assist with us every 223 minutes. Bernard averages a goal or an assist every 532 minutes.

He's not even half as good as Pienaar on current showings.
Taking this out of the transfer thread. Ok so Bernards first season in the prem, lets compare them then.

Bernard 34 (2128 minutes) games 1 goal 4 assists.

Steven Pienaar 28 games (2088 minutes) 2 goals 6 assists.

So Pienaar was better in his first season, not by a whole load and also had Yakubu and Johnson scoring goals in front of him while all our attacks were focused down our left hand side

I'm not sure why Pienaar is the measuring stick. We didn't finish top 4 with Pienaar and we won't with Bernard either most likely. Especially next year where it's hard to see the backline being just as good without Zouma and could be challenged even more by the loss of Gueye.

1 in 5 isn't going to cut it.

Because Pienaar and Baines were up there with the best wing partnerships in the entire league at the time, unfortunately the other wing was Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman, and Digne and Bernard could be just as good as them. I can see you aren't ever gonna like Bernard so go back to your spreadsheets and stats there is no hope for you

It isn't all about stats mate. Believe it or not I can watch a player and see him work hard and be really skillful and also think he's not particularly good. If football was all about skill those dudes on YouTube would be world class. The stats just happen to back up what I see on this one.
