Great defenders get done by great pieces of skill.

There's even a long-standing gif of Boateng because of it.
I think we should probably just wait and see.

If Boateng had no fully solid appearances before that moment I would not be saying he's a good defender after it.

Doesn't that just prove you've jumped the gun on Godfrey then?
No because as I've explained he just played a full season of being not good.

It's like if we went out and signed Kepa right now and people were talking about how we should give him more time because we haven't seen him play for us that much.

What we're really in need of here is for him to take a leap in his consistency but we're talking about a player who has already played 150 first team matches in his career. He's young enough that it could happen but as I also said before it isn't the normal development curve.

Kepa is awful, there are highlight reels of him being awful.

Godfrey is a player none of us on here have seen more than 5 times except apparenlty the all-knowing you.

Everytime I see him play he looks so uncomfortable. God I hope not another Brands mess up.
I have thought that a lot myself to be honest, even the odd game people say he played well, did well not to score OG just at the very start of 2nd when he just about got leg out of the way from cross - when Rich should have made it 4-1 other end, but anyway not playing in his usual position so will get a lot of time

The games I watched of Norwich they were on the whole awful defensively. I'll freely admit I wasn't fixated on Godfrey the whole time but I'm just not buying that he wasn't playing at least a little poorly in a game where Antonio scored four goals for example.

I like this kid. He still raw and been in the Norwich team which not need good for learning defence work. He fast and can run with a ball and can pass, strong and can tackle. He will be ace next season

I like his 'profile'. 22 English, strong and quick.

Lots to work with... @Eggs is the above why youre comparing to Keown? Think hed be a good man marker?

@Neiler what are your thoughts so far?

My guess is he and Holgate will become first choice.

...no, I’m not one who thinks ‘he could do a job‘ as a DM, a RB or a specialist man-marker.

He lacks finesse, he’s just a big powerful and fast lad who likes to defend. He’s raw and he’ll make mistakes but I think he’ll ultimately make us more difficult to score against. He’s more of a Keown type than a VvD type. Personally, I see him & Keane being a partnership.
