Probably an initial £20m with achievable add-ons.

Because we aren't that strong at CB in terms of depth. The good start masks it but nobody was claiming Keane and Mina are a top drawer pairing. Holgate's out for a while and the only other options are the youngsters with Gibson(untested) and Braithwaite (also injured). Godfrey coming in might allow one of those to go out on loan for much needed senior experience.

Plus, if it's possible to strike the right deal for a player you're interested in then you do it. Strike while the irons hot.
