Hey there, this is my first thread here. I've been an Everton fan for about 3 years now, which started when i was first looking for a premier league team to support. Probably what sold me was watching that 2-2 draw against spurs with a tim cahill/seamus coleman inspired comeback.

However, i can't help but feel that the club really needs to start expanding its presence in Asia. Down here you would have to go to a specialist store to get an Everton kit even after we've switched to Nike, whereas you could even find a Villa kit at a store in the mall.

I'm not too sure if there are any other Singaporean Blues on this forum, but the ones i've seen on the street have always been quite a few years older than me, thus i've been too shy to say anything even though they're walking around in their kits. That's another thing, i have never met another everton fan my age, i'm currently 17 and the majority of our generation are the expected big 4 supporters with a growing number of bandwagon City and Spurs fans over the last couple of years. I've been wondering how the club could increase its attractiveness to people in Asia, i mean obviously to footie fans in the USA we have the likes of howard, donovan, brian mcbride even, but down here only 'champions' seem to get any support.

Most knowledgeable fans i know respect us well enough, especially in light of results like the 4-4 and 1-0 win over Utd, we do have a reputation as being up for it when the big boys come to play, but it's really quite saddening to see us for the large part ignored by the local media. The Big four (big 6 + city and spurs now i guess) bias here is incredible, perhaps more so than in England. I can't tell you how many times i've wanted to sock somebody in the face for writing us off as a '**** team' based solely on the fact that they've never heard of us. To be honest, there are even a group of red****e fans that don't even recognize or know that we're rivals, which just goes to show the club's standing here in Singapore.

I just hope that with a cup win in the near future, or maybe a tour to our region (though not java, that was a disaster) in future seasons would see our global presence rise.

Sorry if this was posted in the wrong section or something btw...

Singaporeans 'support' Liverpool, Man Utd mainly....

They buy the shirts and sit around singing songs in pubs but generally I have found don't actually understand much of what is going on in the game.....

Most comical are watching games at Chijmes, it's so apparent that the people are they to scream at the top of their voices liverpool songs....absolutely cringeworthy stuff...

Even more amusing is going to robertson walk and having the restaurant change the channel half way through games....all the freaks wearing their red shirts just sit there and watch another channel when they could simply walk to another bar next door and keep watching the game....

Singaporeans would not buy Everton shirts if there was even a Everton store there, it would be a waste of money...they would just buy UTD or liverpool red shirts and continue not understanding the FAN of a football fan.

Besides, Singaporeans always want something for nothing !

Hi Jonny,
Most Everton fans here indeed started supporting in the 80s so it's always nice to read about new fans that have come on board in recent years. Especially from Singapore, as you say, most would pick from one of the Sky media darlings to support or more likely, support the team their dad or friend's support which is usually Man U or the ****e. Deciding to support Everton at 14 definitely shows character so no need to be shy! If you have Facebook come join our supporters group there. We've just had our 200th member and a good number, 20-30, have recently met up to watch the Villa and WBA games. A small group meet up for Sunday kickabouts so perhaps you might like to meet with fellow local Blues sometime. You could consider it group therapy coz supporting Everton is one crazy ride ;)

Hi Jonny. Fellow local Blue here. Supported Everton since 1984 when we won the FA cup. Would like to meet up with fellow Blues also on match days. Can hardly find a pub to watch our matches.

Anyways, its nice to know some that there are some Singaporean Blues on GOT.

Hi Johnny, I'm a 22 years old Korean Everton Fan who has lived in Singapore for 3 years. I also agree your idea and have same experience with you. I've seen many guys who called themselves as "Real Football Fan" or "Die-Hard Fan" (Mostly, it restrict to Man U or red ###tie fans) and they always make a annoying noise and sing YMCA song for supporting their 'team' but funny thing is they definitely have no idea and respect about entire FOOTBALL situation.

For example, Once I was just shocked how the Lottery Fans (In Korea, We call the red###tie as "Lotto-Pool" which is the term comes from their Horrible tactics which only use Long Shot and Long Shoot but only have poor scoring rate) have their unilateral standards that argues their team has untouchable squad (which is better than Barcelona) and win the league this season.

Actually, Funny thing is that there are no difference in the red YMCA fans in Korea and Singapore. Both are rude, lame and noisy. Sometimes I just think the kind of guys are actually not supporting for "Football" but wanting to show "indecency" in Legal way when they drink and hang the girls who really have NO IDEA on Football.

It is sad to see love football in pure ways are distracted by people who just want to have a attention or have crowd psychology (when Ji-Sung Park plays for Man U, the thing was huge in Korea). Actually, As Korean fan of this team, In last summer transfer market, I hoped Park Ji sung or Lee chung yong plays for everton because that kind of transfer would have make a lot of money (which will help the dept issue) from Asia and show the most attractive team in EPL.

So... Yeap. the team needs to invest on East Asia Market. Though Everton fans are not many in Korea but Every football fans (except the jerks that i described above) respect the good performance and hard-work in League. Specially, the Korean League fans favor to everton gets their player when the player shows interest to play in Europe because of "Good image of team". I argued this several months ago but please have some attention on Asian Markets like Korea or Singapore not just in Thai and China.

p.s : it is nice to see the everton fan in same country. anyway, Do you know where sales everton jersey though it is Specialist shop. I really desperate to buy this season one but can't find anywhere :(

Hi, we've been meeting at Dallas bar & restaurant along Boat Quay for the last two matches. Just a few doors down from Penny Black. We'll probably be back there for the Swansea game as the Newcastle one is on too late and no pubs will be open. Sorry I forgot to post the link to the FB group the last time https://www.facebook.com/groups/7724760489/
We have a few expat Blues in our group as well so wherever you're from, if you're in SG and a Blue you're most welcome to join us!

Hi Jonny,

Nice to meet you and fellow Singaporean blues on this site. I've been a blue fan all of my life, first real memory being the '68 cup final. I was destined to be a blue. born in the same ward on the same day as Kevin Ratcliffe, our skipper during the glory days of the 80's, Dixie Dean ran the pub on the same street where my Gran lived .. I had no choice in the matter and glad about it. It's something special to be an Evertonian, we are truly special compared to that shower of [Poor language removed] across the park and especially those who prolifigate the bars in Singapore.

Blues used to gather in Fluid (former Carnegies) in Far East Square, owned by Terry (blue from the Wirral) but sadly Fluid is no more. You may want to try Turnstyles on Circular Road, co-owner Adey is a displaced scouser and big Evertonian. We're all arl fellas compared to you but don't be shy as we'd all be proud to welcome younger blues to the fold and buy you a pint. My lad is about your age and invariably he'll don the appropriate top and join a big group of young lads at the Hawker Centre in Holland V, forget the name of the main bar but you can't miss the owner, hippy looking local dude with a grey ponytail ... and a bog Everton fan. You can't miss my lad too, he's just shy of 2m and as I say he'll be wearing the top .. and probably quite vocal as well. He goes there for the banter and cheap drinks.

Strip - my missus bought me the 2008/9 home and away at Queenstown Mall but since then has joined the Everton website and buys online.

Being an Everton fan is one of the best decisions you have made in your young life to date, we are a special breed and as the days pass by you will realise this, if you haven't already. I generally find that being an Evertonian generally commands a great deal of respect from other footie fans, there are exceptions and they are generally followers of the ****e .. or in my experience in Singapore, Celtic (not sure why, perhaps it's the 'istory song).

Be proud and when necessary be loud as you are now part of something that others will secretly envy .. and spread the word as I have been doing for the past 12 years. Welcome bro'.

Just look at the outpouring of bon homie .. imagine if we get our **** together we could probably fill Chjimes :)

BTW .. I'm Gary

Hallo Gaz,
we did fill Chijmes during the Cup final against Chelsea! What a roar when Saha scored the opener! The night wasn't a total loss as some of us nicked the blue beer buckets with the Chang logo on one side and the club crest on the other as a souvenir. Didn't know there was a group of Blues meeting up in Holland V of all places. I'm going down to Wala Wala tonight so I shall keep a look out for the hippy Blue bar owner. Btw, Turnstyles is no longer around either. They closed the Circular Road one down earlier this year. Didn't know Adrian was a Blue, the e-mail flyers always seemed to big up the neighbours so I thought he was RS.

Thanks to Bluesquid and Sportbillyblue on the gathering places for local Blues. I'm Alex. Will definitely try to catch up with you guys.

As for our strip, I bought our 2010-11 home kit from Peninsula Shopping Centre. I'm not sure if they have our current kit though.

Once again, nice meeting you guys.
