Beer, revisited

strongbow
magners.

Finally picked up some Strongbow last night. It's an expensive import, but nice. And Mrs Nigh liked it too, which is more important.

Also, had some Sam Adams Winter Lager, always a treat:

I've long desired to take the Mrs to Bavaria and sit at a corner cafe all day, watching people walk by while tasting the lovely German beers of every sort. She can do whatever she wants, but that's what I'll be doing.
Highly recommended pal. Where about are you residing in the US? You're in a great country yourself there.

NW Louisiana. We have a good local brewer, Abita, and two new breweries just opened up in my town. Looking forward to sampling from Great Raft and Red River breweries. But no good locations near here to sit and watch while enjoying a beer. Not even one good pub/bar (although, that's on my list of excellent failed business ideas).

Sounds brilliant. Enjoyed the hell out of three days in Munich earlier this year. The helles (lager) was great stuff. Enjoyed the last drops of the starkbier as well. Started picking up Hacker-Pschorr sixers to occasionally break up the Hopnotony that comes with drinking a lot of American Pale Ales and IPAs.

If any of the American drinkers manage to get hold of any beers from The Kernel, i recommend trying one. Although pretty sure they don't ship out there..

Sampled these the past few nights, each very good. Ommegang makes great stuff and I haven't tried it all yet, these two were good.

Ommegang Witte: extremely smooth and light, but very tasty

Ommegang Three Philosphers: a good Belgian quad is very nice, is this is a good Belgian quad

Young's Double Chocolate Stout: like it reads on the bottle, "Pure Luxury"
