Beer, revisited

Sometimes you forget, that very common beers, can be sublime if they`re looked after.

I had a couple of pints of London Pride last night, which was perfectly kept and a delight to drink.

As self certified Craft beer pervert, I must admit Tim Taylor's Landlord when kept right might actually be my favourite all time beer.

Pure brewing at its finest.

Tetley’s Cask too.

I had one in Yorkshire last year, that was like nectar.

Just goes to show, how many pubs don’t really look after their beer or try and squeeze another couple of days out of it when it’s on the turn - I fully understand why they do this, due to cost and the struggle that pubs have to turn a profit.

Keeping cask is art form...my boozer Darrn Sarff got 2nd best cask in central London by CAMRA,I'd have come first but they said my toilets where to small??

Which is mad because my bogs had absolutely nothing to do with how the beers tasted...I was made up but fuming at the same time.

Certainly don't envy pubs in the current climate who serve Cask because the margins are so fine, rightly as you say some will keep it on longer than they should purely because they can't afford the wastage.

The other trick ( I`m looking at you Wetherspoons ) is slightly chilling the real ale, so it lasts longer.

The flip side, as you know, is that it lacks taste until it starts to warm and come alive again.

A pub by us, that`s had a least one real ale pump on for decades, has done away with their real ale and replaced it with a " craft " IPA ( expensive fizz ) as they couldn`t afford to be chucking the real away when it went off.

Didn't know Wetherspoons did that with the beer.
