Last night had a glass of Pliny the Elder. Had only heard of this and never seen it (even in the store). This is a 10/10, and I despise IPAs. 
I done looked for that a lot when over the pond last, but no joy. Its high on my wants list, heard legendary things.
What makes it so special would you say? (if you can quantify!)
Found this in Portland, Maine, of all places. I don’t know how to properly describe it but here goes: it was chiefly subtle and balanced. Had good smell and clear hops taste but not the lingering bitterness. Felt fresh and piney because the smell and hops flavor were balanced with the rest of it. Had good clean finish like a Belgian wit. It was immediately recognizable without the typical Yank bravado. That’s the best I can do, but I’d drink it again every time it’s on the menu.
Tonight’s pour a Japanese “Snow Weizen” with smoked salmon fried rice (not pictured).
So what was so great about it because I 'kin hate IPA's too.

I'm more curious about this one, looks akin to a whitbier...what's the haps'.
Very clean like a Japanese lager, definitely a wheat. None of the bread taste like German beer and not as rich and fruity as a Belgian. Was nice.
