Beer, revisited

Gutted about the swan.

It’s by far the best place to go and have a solo few pints in town.

Fair play to the lads who run the bridewell but town is becoming a bit of a monopoly with the boozers now.

Seems to be the same two groups buying them up.

Losing places like the pilgrim and the swan is very sad.

Small Hands has only got two other pubs mate - The Bridewell and the Denbigh Castle, which are both excellent pubs, with great beer, so I’d say the Swan is in safe hands.

Our final day in Glasgow and we've booked a tour round the Tennants brewery.

Its an absolute behemoth of a place

Millions of cans, kegs and bottles per week, they use 1.4 billion gallons of Loch Katherine, one in 3 beers drunk in Scotland is Tennants lager.

Guinness is in second place.

Fascinating tour, completely flipped my preconceptions about Tennants on its head, loads of history and the folks working there are brilliant.

Tour finishes in the tap, with un pasteurised lager from the tank, and its an excellent pint

Crafty boys may turn their nose up, but if you're in town its a couple of hours well spent.

In Liverpool today so popped into the Vernon Arms to try therel relaunched Snecklifter. My, it was so.... feckin' disappointing, they bloody ran out of it yesterday. Settled for this, very tasty. Nice to see a mild on.

And this. Not usually a big fan of IPA's, but this was not overtly hoppy, and Peerless came up trumps again.

Nice pub, they had five ales on tap, and the bar staff were knowledgeable as well.

The Sneck Lifter being out was probably a good thing for you.

It`s not really what I`d call an afternoon pint, it`s loopy juice
