Beer, revisited

Currently in the Cotswolds, where Wadworth pubs seem to the order of the day, not generally a fan of their beers, but this was quite good :
Horizon Golden Ale 4%
Nice zesty summer drink, with a pleasant aftertaste.
It was one of those pints that got better, once you’d go used to the initial “ tang “ of the first few sips.

Wandsworth used to like to put X (s) on their beer names, do they still do that ? Their mild was very nice, but that was a few years' ago now.
There was an X beer next to it, which I’d had before, so thought I’d give this one a go

Wadsworth 6X is their most popular beer. One of my go to pints when I was a student.
Wadsworth are a bit like Robinsons beers for me, in that when they`re well kept, they`re smashing beers, it`s just that a lot of places for some reason don`t seem to look after them properly and more often than not you get an average pint at best.

Just had a look, Wadworth's no longer brew their own mild. Noticed also that Bishop's Tipple is only 5% abv, it used to be much, much stronger than that.

Had to check, and you are right. They stopped brewing Bishops Tipple for a few years, when it came back it had been reduced from 5.5% to 5%.Just had a look, Wadworth's no longer brew their own mild. Noticed also that Bishop's Tipple is only 5% abv, it used to be much, much stronger than that.

Postmistress bitter, found its way to Bath from Sandstone Brewery in Wrexham. Really top notch.

I have you know , I had a quick pint in there when I was waiting for someone . I’m not real the target clientele Beer wise but it was nice enough , staff were sound and beer decent .
Visual samples in mason jars (I'm assuming)? First time I've seen that. At first I thought they were serving in those and I was ashamed at the hipster technique but then I saw your pint.
Yeah they're fairly common in cask ale pubs to get a sense of the hue.
Huh! First time I've seen that ; makes sense. Presumably you can smell, too.

They do that in the Lion Tavern (Liverpool).
A cream ale in Dolores, Colorado at Dolores River Brewery; had to stop on the way back home. Came off as a Budweiser that was actually cared about, not horrible.
