Regale the ale - Newcastle edition

So they may be home to togger whoppers but 24 hours in geordie land has revealed a fine mecca for cask and keg. Also, maybe its the viking genes but its also home to an uncanny (marra) number of tall, blonde really good looking girls an' all. Incidentally they don't seem to be shy about cleavage either (maybe another viking thing).

Anyways, beer. Far beyond the confines of the gut rot broon, I dropped into 3 fine ale houses and enjoyed some first class libations.

First was Colonel Porters Emporium. An opulent and quirky rum & cocktail bar. I had an ice cold Neck Oil (I was bakin') and a Mount Gay XO Triple Cask, very fine.

After some scran I ensconced in the fantastic Crown Posada, a superb victorian ale house, all tiles, wood and ornate ceilings - home from home for a scouse drinker. I had an excellent NEIPA:

Citrus haze and high ABV, this went down a treat considering I'd mainly gone for it as the clip reminded me of the sexy ginger lass who played Anne Bonnie in Black Sails......

........wandered off there for a minute, sorry.

Listening to the all vinyl soundtrack and scanning the back bar I spy a bottle of Stagg Jr Kentucky bourbon. Well! How much for a shot of that my fine black nail varnished sultry indie barlass? "7 quid babes... 66% mind you, are you having one?" 'Kin right I am girl!' Properly excellent it was. I had a pint of some milk stout as well but I was too trollied to remember to take a photo or what it was, I think it was nice.

After the inconvenience of work I packed the team off on their various trains, but as I'm an older and more wily fox I'd left myself a couple of hours to wander the city and after a lovely sun soaked sojourn up one side of the Tyne and down the other I stopped at the Red House. This magnificent, labyrinthine cove under the bridge is the second oldest pub in Newcastle and an absolute gem. I quaffed thus:

After an enjoyable visit my guard was down, and the canny barmaid used her ample and hypnotic charms to sell me a bottle of the local gin for the lass. It was pricy so it'll please herself I'm sure, and I feel less guilty for the odd sinful thought that wandered across me brain.

Stopped on the train in York with a couple of cold tins, congratulating myself on a job well done.

Anyways, that's my report fellas. Sorry it was mostly about knockers.
