Nigerian advertising rules were at the time (well... still are) incredibly lax with no obligation to make fair statements or promises.

So they made adverts with massive, physically fit black men stood there with a drink and pretty much said, "Guinness will make you strong like this."

It's popularity went through the roof and even when they were told to tone it down a bit they come up with adverts like this. The legacy is it's still hugely popular.

It's a tipple of ghastly featureless towns around the edge of Glasgow and beyond. It's made in an Abbey in the south west of England I think.

The monks must be so paralytic I'm surprised they can get the stuff into the bottles.

Went for an 8 mile walk in the sunshine yesterday - Luckily there's a tap house at the railway station at the end of my walk so blew the froth of a couple of pints before getting the train home

Didn't know what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate and coconut stout by Neptune Brewing called 'On The Bounty'

I've enjoyed a few of Brewdog's IPAs recently, this one in particular, so I picked up a couple more cans of it in the supermarket today:



If you like a sour IPA, I'd definitely recommend it.
