Beckford

Regardless - I'm sure Moyes would have had him on the "destroy striker and confidence program" which has served him so well over the years.

I always thought he was terrible, how he managed to score 10 goals was a mystery. But hey ho you cant take it away from him.

The first game of last season when we lost to QPR at home, I do remember thinking that his was the worst individual performance I had witnessed in a very very long time at Goodison.

Did people watch him play? It was like playing with 10 men. Never challenged for a header, clueless running, bad attitude.

I just hope we didn't spend £4m on him in wages, agents and signing on fees.

I'll just leave this here.

"People calling me an #Efc reject no offense like but your some average team trying to fit in with the big boys #premierleague"

Read his Bio for the real humour.

Beckford doesn't use Twitter, that's one of a few fake accounts...someone's just trolling Everton fans.

Regarding the real Beckford: I liked him. He scored goals, some stunners, some very important winners too. He wasn't quite Prem-quality, but he could have still been a useful impact sub.

His movement was class and always got chances. The year we sold him and the Yak.. We only had Sahara as a striker and couldn't buy a goal. Poor move to sell him at that point.

We had a fire sale that season though

Yeah! And he ran defenders down, making them panic. I thought that 5-3 vs Blackpool where him and Saha just clicked was the beginning of a beautiful strike partnership.

...alas, Moyes is no friend of two up front...

His first goal against Bolton was a proper stunner. No right to score from there. The Chelsea goal on the last day was beautiful and doesn't get spoken about enough.

Remember when Matt Damon told us all we were signing him. Every day for 6 months. I miss that guy. Him and LCAB were proper loonies.

Still think his Blackpool winner was his best goal for us...that volleyed finish after Baines' long chip upfield.

I'd agree. I was at that game, and it looked good even in the top balcony!

wow! i bet that was sooo epic! I watched it on stream (live in Germanland), and i rank that game as one of the most entertaining matches i've ever seen us play. Blackpool gave it their all too...it was just perfect action. An abiding memory is Rodwell's beautiful chip over the keeper towards certain goal, only for a Blackpool defender to dramatically clear it off the goal-line, smashing into his own post in the process and lying prone on the floor just absolutely knackered from the game.

It's not often I hugely respect an opposing defender but that was one time.

Beckford plays better with a partner. Never going to happen for him at "Run, run, run" Everton - the forwards' graveyard.

Yeah...hugely disappointing that after proving how good we are with two upfront we fail to play that way again. Moyes was obviously scared of conceding goals (we conceded 3 that day). But I prefer the we're gonna score one more than you mentality over the we're not gonna lose this game and hopefully win it.

Where is Matt Damon these days....I don't think I've seen a recent post??
