It's obvious that he's not the most clinical of finishers, but he's running round and creating opportunities for himself. Hopefully he'll go on a run, get his confidence up at this level and help to take some of the goalscoring responsibility off Cahill. If Saha and Yakubu had half the movement of Becks, they might find openings presenting themselves too.

4 or 5 times he was clean through on goal today...

...Now I'm gutted he couldn't even finish one of them, but Saha and Yak haven't even been put through 5 times together this season.

Rough diamond and what have you, but he's different, and offered the tiniest glimmer of hope in what turned out to be one embarrasing result, embarassing because it was completely deserved.

Its obvious he is a confidence player! If you can score goals, you can do it at any level. It not as if the goals get any smaller, just the opposition defence better. However, Beckford IS creating chances for himself and out of our strikers he's probably the only one who has made the space or has been in the postion to create them.

What I can't work out is why we have reserve team? Put him in a few reserves games, let him play a full 90 mins and hopefully the goals will come in those matches and he carry them in to the first team. After, all we all know he is capable; Bolton this season, Tottenham for Leeds last year in the cup.

I'm pretty sure we will se the best of him next season though, just like Jagielka, Baines and Pienaar .

It's a delicate situation. I'm sure that nobody is putting more pressure on Beckford than the lad himself. The gaffer should really be taking the heat off him and praising him for finding the space that he did. Otherwise, he's just going to tense up and he's not going to want to get in those positions in case he misses.

Saha in particular offers no movement at all. I don't remember hearing his name in commentary once in the half hour that he was on. He just doesn't seem to have any hunger to break his long drought.

A really weird comment that from Moyes, yes he has to score but surely the point was (as has been said) that he is at least getting into those positions, as opposed to Saha, who was last in that kind of position some time last season.

By that I mean that he probably needs four or five chances to score one goal, very much like Andy Cole used to be. He's not the sort of player who will bide his time and stick away the only chance that comes his way in a game.

I'm absolutely fuming with him for the one he blazed into the street end and the one he tried to overhead kick in !! However, the lad is getting chances in a limited time on the pitch ! Saha is pathetic really and Yak isn't getting the chances ! We need 2 strikers from the start at home and I want those to be Yak and Becks ! Play Timmy and Felli in the middle now Davie and have a go at these shitty clubs at home ! Back to Beckford , being a half decent forward myself ( well average) at semi pro level, I like the fact that Becks gets into the positions to miss but he needs to be more clinical. He also needs games as coming on for 20 mins or so just isn't good enough as you are trying to prove yourself everytime !

Come on Davie let's mix it up a bit and Save Our Season !!

i agree he did miss hiss chances and made the wrong desion at times but for me he was the only possitive i can take from today! he just needs games and to score a cuople and i think he will shine!
