Criticism of Barry is one thing, but suggesting that Beto does more is mad to me tbh.

He actively stops us controlling the ball, only way to play with him in the team is to go direct every time which puts us under massive pressure.

Just because you have seen him being bad less often recently, does not mean that he's no longer as bad as he's always been.

We've signed 1 capable centre forward in Calvert-Lewin in over a decade since signing Lukaku.

Any I've missed from the below?

  • Broja
  • Sandro Ramírez
  • Enner Valencia
  • Thierno Barry*
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin
  • Samuel Eto’o
  • Chermiti
  • Josh King
  • Cenk Tosun
  • Oumar Niasse
  • Beto
  • Neal Maupay
  • Salomon Rondon
  • Moise Kean
  • Arouna Kone
*could yet prove capable...
What awful list. You could take the best attribute(s) from all of them , combine them to make so weird frankenstein and it would still be crap.

We don’t need a 20 goal a season striker. We need a bog standard 10 a season striker. It should be the bare minimum for an establish prem team

If we had something in an attacking sense that vaguely looked like it may work - it was Charlie linking with Beto.

I think they have barely been on the pitch together this season, certainly not with Charlie at 10. Has to be worth a try next game.

Beto is a 10 goal a season centre forward. He proved that in the 2nd half of last season.

Moyes has changed the playing style which suited him and removed him playing with his best mate Alcaraz who proved an effective partnership.

Instead we've mostly seen Grealish and KDH in an advanced role behind Barry. This has proved to be ineffective and slowed the play down.

Play more direct, quicker tempo with Alcaraz behind Beto and we'd have a 10 goal a season striker.

I thought you would have a rest at xmas with the Alcaraz promos ,alas I was sadly wrong .For next christmas I will get you a pair of clear glasses not the rose tinted ones you wear day and night .Please remind me . Hope fully by then he will be further away than the moon .

We were mostly pretty rubbish last season though, I don't really want us to go back to playing like that.

We're doing better this season by controlling games. Controlling the ball, not having to weather extreme pressure for most of the 90 every week. We need to address our lack of goals without sacrificing that control imo.

No we should be playing to - checks notes - Alcaraz and Beto’s strengths….

Baffled, absolutely baffled 😂.

Last season

Beto 1531 mins = 8 goals.

Over a season that would be 18 goals.

As commonly stated he played best when Alcaraz was behind him. They also happen to be closest to one another personally as well.

We played quick direct football under Moyes last season.

The above are facts.

This season Moyes has decided to slow the play down and pass the ball around more.

We have Grealish and KDH in advanced positions who slow the play down, literally.

Barry starts but neither he nor Beto are getting much joy in front of goal

If this season the team cant score goals then it seems logical using facts to go back to what created and led to goals last season.

Just takes a basic understanding of facts and logic to put 1 + 1 together and come up with 2.

Everton this season dont control games?

The players tend to play the ball side to side and let the opposition get back.

Put 2 on Grealish and then close off the space. Its posession for posessions sake.

Slow, pointless posession which has led to a lack of penetration.

The only goals that we score this season that arent flukes, fabulous strikes or 50/50 are those when the play is fast, like Ndiaye and Alcaraz for Barrys goal.

If we played this way we'd be way further up the league.

I cant understand why were playing slower stupid football but its not "control". Its letting opposition get back into defensive positions.

I call that stupidity.
