Barry Vs Beto

Who would you rather start?

I was sitting there thinking beto is crap get him off and he did and Barry come on and looked worse, it's like a choice of which eye do you want me to poke you in.

It’s meaningless to compare 1 v the other. Beto is a total waste of space in the Prem. He can’t make “those runs” that his fans think are his trademark, he barely shows an understanding of the offside laws. He hasn’t got the guile or snide to nail his defenders, his lack of ball control doesn’t just put us a man down, it gives the opposition an extra man.

Lukaku wasn’t silky skilled, but he knew when to make his runs, he nailed his defender, turned and beat them for pace. His team mates instinctively knew the balls to play to him.

Imagine, if you’ve ever played footy, playing a decent ball to Beto and watching it bounce off his shins, for the fifth time in a match. You’d doubt the sanity of the manager for picking him.

Beto is never “coming good” in the prem, waiting for a goal “that gets his confidence up” ain’t happening. So forget the comparison, as for Barry, a different conversation is needed. Stop the comparison, it’s apples v rotten eggs.

I’m convinced about Beto, Barry, I’m not sure what he’s meant to be yet.

It’s a no score draw for me
The jury’s out on Barry as far as I’m concerned. We set a team up, starting with Beto. We then just hook him and send Barry on.

No discernible change in style, pace or tactics. They’re not the same players. Surely when we sub Barry on, we should be seeing a change in how we expect the team to play ?

Maybe I’m just old fashioned and a bit too steeped in Sunday league tactics. Jeez, even on a Sunday morning we’d know how to change our tactics if the 6ft 6, hungover centre forward, was swapped for the 5ft tricky midget.

I wish it was easier to just completely change the shape we play without an utter freakout from the fans if it doesn't work.
Honestly I think the fans would be every bit as on board with a total change as they are with anything else. What’s more difficult to get people on board with is a very small change with a slight uptick in results. Bring in £150m of attacking players, move from averaging 40% possession to 45% and finish 2 places higher in the league and people won’t want to build a statue of you, shocking I know.

Beto's a good striker, a lot of blues catastrophising the fact he's going through a rough patch. Got to remember he was called upon last season with 0 expectation other than to keep us up. Ended up bossing the end of the season, gave that lot a headache in the derby, scored a few crackers etc. The issue now is other teams have started to suss him.

Regarding Barry this guy has gone from the French fifth division to the Prem in four years, there's an obvious natural talent which is why he ended up in La Liga but the Prem is a massive jump. He may well be next season's main man. All that said nobody will know unless he gets a few Prem starts, if anything to give Beto a break as well. All that said I'm keeping the faith with Beto.

For what it's worth I don't get why the club has settled for two strikers, last season we had DCL, Beto, Chermiti, Broja. Sadly 3 experienced injuries, ironically those 3 strikers are now fit and playing elsewhere. This whole thread proves selling Chermiti was a strange move, no doubt would be the choice to start the next game. Typical Everton...
