Gareth Barry, at the very worst, should be kept as a squad player
To cull him at this stage would be ludicrous, especially when you consider he's still comfortably one of the most skilled players we have even at the age of 35
The only time Barry has had an issue is when he's been overplayed. That's down to bad management and, fingers crossed, the days of us being a victim to that are now behind us. You won't see what happened in 14/15 happening again for instance
Used correctly, Barry can still be very important for Everton
Really poor form to demand he be culled. Really, really poor
Gibson is the one who deserves to be shipped out if one of the older CM's has to go
Barry may be 35, but you'll get more out of him than Gibson as he takes better care of himself
There's nothing wrong with having an experienced head in the ranks, especially when you take into account that we have lots of young CM's who could still learn a lot from Barry
Plus, he's someone who has been here for a few seasons and is comfortable at the club and has chemistry with his team mates. Wholesale change all at once is not a good idea. You need to introduce gradual change. Buying two brand new CM's who have never played with each other or the rest of the team and throwing them in there is a recipe for disaster. Barry has played with the other players, is still a talented player, has experience to pass down to younger players and still has a lot to give if used correctly
