The fact some in England want a Public Holiday for winning a team sporting competition is probably more reflective of the fact that England as a sporting nation has won sod all, so some are going absolutely ape at this glimmer of hope.

By my count, England have won two World Cup's out of England's big three team sports of football, cricket, and rugby? Football once (1966) and rugby once (2003)?

In the same sports, Australia has won seven, New Zealand three, and of course Brazil, Germany, and Italy have won more, in one sport....
