Band Of Brothers

I think I should rewatch The Pacific. Give it another chance.
I think most people prefer band of brothers, and it is more entertaining, btu I personally think the pacific encapsulated that horrendous conflict very well, its suffers a little from being more fragmented as I think it comes from three different source material's, but some heart wrenching stuff in there, I mean captain ack-ack ffs, I still well up

For whatever reason it didn't grab me. But I'm biased in my interest in the European theater over the Pacific theater, so that may have something to do with it.
Yeah most people would agree with you mate, like as said to smithyijj, BoB is the more entertaining piece of television, but I felt pacific really did grasp the sheer at time hopelessness of that conflict, characters that had time invested in them where more likely to die in the pacific, I loved it. I do actually revisit BoB more though, and like you I watch it once a year, usually around xmas for some reason, must be the snow in the battle of the bulge

I liked the Pacific, but it always struck me as odd that the personalities portrayed were so jarringly different between the soldiers in the European and Pacific theaters. I think it comes down to poor writing and disappointing casting.

Obviously the environment was a huge contrast between Europe and the Pacific, and that should be reflected in the directing style and atmosphere, but the fighting men were comprised of the same sector of the American population and their mannerisms, etc. should have been similar.

Yet the personalities of the characters are so different that it made the entire series feel like an entirely different generation/conflict.

Anybody else feel that way?

Totally agree on the casting.

Brothers was pretty star stuffed throughout.

Pacific was young guys trying to make their name. Not a bad thing but harder to relate to.
