I liked the Pacific, but it always struck me as odd that the personalities portrayed were so jarringly different between the soldiers in the European and Pacific theaters. I think it comes down to poor writing and disappointing casting.
Obviously the environment was a huge contrast between Europe and the Pacific, and that should be reflected in the directing style and atmosphere, but the fighting men were comprised of the same sector of the American population and their mannerisms, etc. should have been similar.
Yet the personalities of the characters are so different that it made the entire series feel like an entirely different generation/conflict.
Anybody else feel that way?
