Our left-back Baines wants to be in the squad that represents Enlgand at next years World Cup and i say he deserves to be. He is one of the most underrated defenders in the league. Personally i think he has got the balance right between defence and attack.

He's small,
He's lean,
He's Everton's number 3,
Leighton Baines,
Leighton Baines!!!!!!!!!!!

He (Baines) played well on the arse end of last season. So far this season he's been okay, with improvement he should make the squad.
I think Ashley Cole is a lot better and will always be first choice if fit.

I think he came in well before that (November-ish) and hit the ground running. Apart from being involved in a steller number of clean sheets, I think he scored 1 and had 6-7 assists.

Cashley Cole is always going to be 1st choice. But how Wayne Bridge is in the international squad after being at Chelsea for 6 years and playing (as a sub mostly) about 80 times I never know. He's been less that average every time he's been given a chance with England (the Croatia game that knocked us out of the Euro's was an absolute joke of a performance).

But there are a lack of quality English left backs. Bridge just seems to be there on the back of the fact he's a regular internation squad member for years so...he must be alright.

I've always rated Baines, even when he was at Wigan he was a quality left back. He's also only 23-24 so he's got plenty of time (Bridge is 29). But if push comes to shove Lescott is probably going to get a shot at left back so getting a place for Baines' is going to be tough.

If he wants an England place, then he will have to earn an England place.
Last year he played well. He can't sit back and expect a call up on last years performances. If he wants it, he needs to repeat the form he showed last year.
At the moment, he isn't playing anything like what he did last season, so he needs to improve or face disappointment.

I don;t think he is the kind of person who would just sit-back and expect to get called up as he has always stricken me as a hard-worker.

I like baines, but he's been [Poor language removed] so far this season.....

Been our best player with Pienaar IMO.

Has started where he left off last year I think.

He's the only one that gives 100% every game. That game against Stigma he was covering the length of the pitch non-stop for 90minutes.

Hibbert followed closely by Rodwell has been our best player by a country mile imho.
Both Baines and Pienaar have been off colour. I guess we all view these things differently.
