Baines.....or ?

We received 28m for Fellaini and 6m for Anichebe 2 months ago, my maths isn't great bit I think that's 33m. We spent just 13m of that on McCarthy, plus maybe a few mil on the loans of Barry and Lukaku, why on earth do we even need to sell anyone or has the millions left over already disappeared as usual? I'll fume if no permanent signings are made with this money in Jan. Even using conservative calculations Martinez should have around 12/15m to play with
that's for the lawnmowers

Whilst I wouldn't ever want to sell Baines, it seems fairly obvious that if we want to compete for trophies/CL then we need a proper world class striker and a very good back up.

Haven't we got 20 million odd left from fellaini and Anichebe sales.

Dont need to sell. With a good amount to bid for lukaku with

I think people are understating just how much money we spent in the Summer.

Despite what the Chairman said, we didnt have a bean to spend before we sold Fellaini, otherwise why the fck did we only move for McCarthy AFTER Fellaini was sold.

The Summer kinda went like this :

IN
Kone 6m
Robles 2m
McCarthy 13m
Martinez 2m
ShinyNewPitch 1m

OUT
Fellaini 27.5m
Anichebe 6m

I havent added Barry and Lukaku or Defooouloeeu due to their fees and wages possibly being offset by the "loss" of Moyes and Fellainis wages, our 2 biggest earners and not forgetting Neville, Hitz and Mucha, then theres Agents fees to factor in, which do add up.

This is on top of the Club as a business that lost 9m last accounts, despite the sale of a number of players.

Its a pretty simple and clearly very wrong way of looking at it, but unlike some Clubs, we are a "business" thats funded solely be the business, so all aspects of the football club impact on other aspects of the football club.

Basically, I will be utterly shocked if we have anymore than our usual 50p and a mars bar left in the kitty.

Where's the BT money Bill?

Didn't we get a tv windfall start of the summer?

I think Manure are in a bit of strife and I think EFC are on the up and up. I obviously cannot speak for Bainsey but I would be very hesitant in joining that post SAF captained vessel. Actually I think Manure, Chelski and man ****ty are all in a bit of an identity/culture crisis. I think Arsenal and Spurs are in the ascendency

We don't need to sell him, for me, why would he want to leave?

He's at an exciting club now, where the club revolves around him (to an extent), he's in the form of his life, he's guaranteed a starting place, set pieces etc.. lifes rosey for Baines.

If we believe Martinez, which i don't, the McCarthy deal would happen without Fellaini leaving, If that means the £33m was still available, which i doubt it is, £20m+ maybe, that's enough for a top striker and a CB, unless were confident of Stones coming through! In that case, we need to try and throw our money at Lukaku, even if Chelsea aren't willing to sell, we need to test their hand, if not, we still have £20m to strengthen, with ageing players in defence and midfield, i have my faith in Martinez!

I'm certainly not getting carried away, but if we keep on playing the way we do, CL football is an outside chance, SHOULD that happen, the money incoming can help Everton grow massively.... as i said, it's a huge outside bet, and i doubt we will, but we may aswell dream.... 15% season gone

I wouldn't sell Baines unless we get stupid money for him.

25M+ would be the number for me.

Can you replace Baines, though?

Fellaini was/is replaceable, despite being a stellar player. Who do you possibly get to replace Baines? Left backs ain't as common, unfortunately.

If we're still doing this well come January, I see absolutely no reason to sell him. Then you can tell him that if he wants his European ball, we can finish the job here.

If we've tanked by then, well, yeah, can't exactly make that sell.

Don't want to lose Baines ...but like I said one day we will ....can't see him playing into his 90s. So, as we're (apparently) skint why not accept a daft offer for him? If a daft offer doesn't come then hang on to a legend. Simples.

We moved on from losing players in the past .... Bailey, Lineker, Mountfield, Ball, Big Nev, Reidy, Tricky Trev ... ah, no wait!

I wouldnt sell him at all ( when i say at all, it would take £40M before I would even consider it). He is a vital part of Everton, and by keeping hold of him we show ambition.
