Baines now 2nd choice for World Cup

not really happy about that, now when baines gets into the squad people will say he's only playing because bridge withdrew himself when quite clearly baines is far better than bridge will ever be
 
also don't count your chickens, warnock may be selected or even lescott may be played there, they would both be comical scenarios
 
I know others feel differently (injuries, tapping up, etc), but I always like to see our lads play for their national teams. Hopefully Cole has a slow recovery and Baines starts against the USA, it'll be great to see him and Donovan pitted against each other (even though Landon won't be an Everton player at that point).
 
I think it will be Warnock who will be choosed by Capello. He's more conservative in terms of they way he's playing, Capello will see him as better fit than more attacking Baines, especially having Glen Johnson as RB.
With their current form, I don't see Lescott nor Barry playing there.
 

I don't think anyone would think back to Wayne Bridge if Baines put in a decent performance in an England shirt.

I really can't see Lescott playing left back for England.
 
im not just saying this becouse im a bluenose.....
baines is the best english left back in the country at the moment.
osman is the best english midfeilder in the country at the moment.
and neville is just ace to have around for motivation experience and cover.

all 3 should be going to the world cup imo.(replace lennon , cole and bridge)

no doubt ........none of them will be picked and some non entity fanny bench warmers from man city ,man utd ,arsenal ,villa or west ham will be chosen instead.

ps i would also take a fit jags over lescott , wes brown and upson.

Although would he end up forgetting he's not on the same team as Tim Howard and start defending the American goal?
 
Terry is a weak link in the England defence as far as I'm concerned.
I don't rate his defensive sharpness one bit, and is caught out all too often. Capello should have looked at options before making his decision on Terry regarding bringing in another central defender.
Whether Baines goes or not, Bridge will be a loss top the squad. I'd much rather they both went, but Baines was first choice.

I also think that Terry gets caught out a lot. I'm not saying he's a bad defender but he does end up being bailed out a fair bit by his quicker Chelsea team mates. Everything seems to be last ditch with Terry.

I was reading on SSN about the fact that bridge turned his back on england and quiet a few fans commented below how they wanted PHIL NEVILLE in for england. Well why now? He's 32,good enough,experienced as hell and has great leadership qualities! Must be a boost for phil to get back on the scene after all this time!
