Baines is good when facing the opposition and running at them at pace. That is why he is so effective when attacking from the wing-back position. If you push him further up field, he won't have that 'run up' to burst passed a defender. I think you need a different skill set to play as a winger and I'm not sure Baines has enough 'flair' in his armoury to play that position, as well as he does at wing-back anyway.

He comes in under the radar as a fullback and bursts into space, he can't trick his way past people.
