Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

I dont.

His hand was out at a unnatural angle and hit his hand which was about a foot away from his body. It was a shot on target that not only did the handball block it was also directly responsible for them starting a counterattack and leading to one of our players having to commit a professional foul and recive a yellow.

That should 100% be a penalty.

Personally I think that today’s incident was not a penalty. In the heat of the moment when defenders are steaming out to block a shot they are not considering if their arms are in an unnatural position. Having said that I also think the two penalties given against us which are being highlighted on social media are not penalties. I believe league officials have decided to come out and say his hand was in a natural position rather than apologise again to Everton. They have decided which of the two evils should they go with and have decided on defending the indefensible rather than admit another glaring mistake. It would appear to be the way of the world today, in the light of overwhelming evidence to the contrary you just lie and brazen it out. The people running our sport have no idea of what sportsmanship is.

See I think people are trying to justify why they feel it wasn’t a penalty. This is because we have had two against us this season, one at Leeds on opening day and one against Brighton at home a week later. These where both penalties given for handball due to a player making his body bigger by using their arms.

This was a penalty. The shot it heading towards goal, the player has turned away from the ball, curled himself up so he doesn’t get hurt by the shot and had his arms out of control, and or not by his side. His arm stops the ball from potentially going into the goal. It’s a penalty.

Same as Arsenal last week. Barry is kicked on the bottom of the foot. Clear as day.

It’s like the ref’s have yet again has their monthly meeting and decided ‘Everton are doing alright. Let’s make sure that slows right down’. Both of them pens are given at Anfield, Old Trafford, etc etc.

Correct

I used to smile at people and think they were paranoid when they said the PL is corrupt and it's all geared towards keeping the title race and relegation battles entertaining.
That handball yesterday is given at Anfield or Old Trafford. I would say it would also be given for the home side Burnley.
The trouble is, Moyes hardly mentioned it, the club don't demand an explanation from the Refs, no demand for a VAR explanation, no demand for a VAR communication record, which would basically force them to give us a decision in the next game.
Liverpool do it all the time and plucky little Everton just sit and eat 💩without a word said.
I'm still fuming

Yep, it's all about the corrupt authorities and their re-writing of the rules to make virtually every decision subjective - so that they can rule in favour of their 'cash-cows.' Dyche was right yesterday when he wondered if the (not given) foul on their player (for City's winning goal) means that you can push the keeper over, as long as the ball isn't near him at that split second. It also made me 'laugh" a while back when Foden was wiped out by a (I think) Newcastle defender, just as he got his shot off on goal. Apparently it wasn't a penalty because 'the contact was inevitable.' If I was a defender I'd think 'right, I'm gonna wipe this tw*t out. Hopefully I get the ball first, but even if I don't it won't be a foul because my momentum makes contact inevitable'

I don't think it's unnatural, he's twisting his body the way most people would, the shot comes at him quite fast from not very far away.

That said, it's pretty much identical to one Dewsbury-Hall conceded against Brighton. That's the problem.
I agree with this. It shouldn't be a penalty in an ideal world as his hand is low and tucked in but the problem is that we have had a very similar one given against us this season.

It's a penalty because of the precedent set earlier on the season.

We know incorrect decisions happen but what is frustrating is the inconsistencies that we have during a season. VAR has made this more and more obvious because a ref making an honest mistake is no longer an excuse for them.
I think the KDH one is more of a pen because his hand is higher. Neither should be pens though. It’s the inconsistency which is annoying.
