I really don’t think you do mate, because you’re still framing it in a way that doesn’t tie in with it at all.
Personally I don’t think any of the 3 penalty decisions we’re discussing were massive deals. I probably wouldn’t have given any of them but I also don’t think giving any of them would be outrageous. They’re basically just marginal calls which you see go both ways. Two against and one for at this point would seem fairly in keeping with the idea of things evening out over a season I’d have thought (obviously common sense tells you this doesn’t mean they will be EXACTLY even, it’s a turn of phrase not a calculation).
I wouldn’t count the 2 from yesterday at all, I thought both of those calls were mad but they’re not big ticket decisions and feed into exactly the type of thing I’ve been talking about. Is it possible someone’s been booked against us this season who shouldn’t have been? Yes, very definitely, I would have no recollection of it because why would I? So counting things like that would be stupid. Same with added time, I genuinely laughed when the board went up yesterday it just seemed so ridiculous, but I haven’t really got any idea whether the amount of added time in our other games has been ‘fair’ so they can’t be counted. The fact you are counting them once again just shows how trying to keep a tally is massively biased. You’re quite adamant that you get that, but keep doing it anyway, which is odd.
I understand your point about bias. Evertonians cant keep an accurate tally about Everton related things without being pro Everton.
You don’t seem to understand my point that I am counting what the media has spoken about to remove the element of bias. The Leeds pen and the refereeing yesterday have been big talking points and overall and almost everyone neutral has sided with us. The Brighton and Wolves games were less talked about in the media.
I don’t think there’s a conspiracy. I don’t think anyone has it out for us. But I think we’ve been hard done by this season and I think that is the case without bias.
This doesn’t mean I don’t understand your point, it means that I think that with all the options to watch, rewatch, analyse and read opinions on football nowadays, people can be more informed rather than the blue tinted specs we watch the game with because on that front I agree and me and my dad have given referees dogs abuse and then seen replays after games and gone ‘oh yeah he was right there’.
Also you said marginal penalty calls were currently two against us and one for us, being fairly even, but it’s three against and one for because it’s
Tarkowski, Minteh and
Dewsbury-Hall against us - which I agree are all marginal, and I would say none should have been given personally but if you give
KDH you have to give Minteh 5 mins later.
I also strongly disagree with you that the referee constantly stopping us getting the ball moving again, booking KDH for attempting to do so, allowing time to be wasted with the ball out of play but then not adding on this time that HE wasted was not a ‘big ticket decision’. That second half is the best I’ve seen us play at Anfield and we felt a lot more likely than them to get a goal but we had less time than we should’ve been allowed to have… I think that’s just as big a deal as a missed corner or free kick which can go either way sometimes.
