I actually would rather have had Schniederlin from the day the season ended in May. He was ace at Southampton, has worked with Koeman in the past and he does not have a dad from Belgium.

The 'I'm staying' nads is an attempt by his agent to reduce the fee being demanded in order to facilitate a move to Italy.

This ship has sailed for us, that much appears almost certain at this point

Schniederlin. My Southampton supporting friend was devastated when he left. He has not been as effective for Utd and with Pogba there now he will not be 1st choice.

Koeman would know exactly how to use him too.

I like him, but is he creative enough for what we need? (I'm not advocating Delph btw).

No less creative than Witsel really. They just move and recycle possession quickly. He would be another big unit for the midfield too.

Never really seemed like it was ever really on.

Once one Italian team expressed interest it's been stalled even tho the fee with Zenit was agreed and he agreed to wages. Honestly not sure how we even got to this point.

He's obviously looking out for himself. If you were him and you had the option of playing for Juve or Everton who would you choose? Not saying we still won't sign him, but I'd imagine he's waiting to see if a CL team calls and matches whatever we've offered.

Didn't say I blame him or anything. Fee was agreed, terms were agreed. "The end".

There's been not a bit of movement for 5 weeks. It seems more likely he'll stay at Zenit than come to us. Every potential move has basically said 'no, ta' except us and, yet, here we are. Still waiting.

For those who think he doesn't want to come here at all, he was still negotiating with us at the end of last week and the substance of those negotiations indicated very firmly a willingness to come.

think he prefers us to Zenit but prefers Juve to us which is fair. Think it'll go down to deadline day and if Juve hasn't agreed with Zenit it'll come here rather than stay in Russia

Fair enough, then why, now that almost every other avenue is closed, are we still waiting? I get the idea of 'let's wait until he chooses somewhere else', but there's GOT to be a point where it becomes untenable and an alternative is required.
