My inside sources tell me that Axel had had very positive talks with the club and signing a contract is imminent, probably next week, possibly next few weeks, most likely this transfer window but possibly the January transfer window.

carvalho does not have the pace to cope with the premier league, it is why arsenal passed on him.

I'm not having that, a lot of players in that position aren't as mobile as say an athletic winger, doesn't mean they can't do the job effectively.

carlvalho is actually probably slower than barry and that's saying something.

Barry also has about 400 premier league games of experience to cover for that lack of pace, and still often gets caught out.

Carvalho would be good in a slower league, in a quicker one he'd get exposed none stop.

If he signs anytime between now and 31 August he will be boss, world class and a boyhood blue but if he goes elsewhere he will be an overrated, lazy, money grabbing judas.

It seems to me like he is happy with the money we are offering but not totally sold on coming to the club so he's waiting for another offer to come in. The problem is the money we've given Zenit is higher than most clubs can match so they are preventing him from talking to those other clubs. So he currently has only us and going back to Zenit as options and is just delaying and hoping that something else happens.

I have no actual inside info here just my idea of the situation based on the rumors of who is interested in signing him and some of Esk's and other reporters info
